GHSV1 severe (transmission rates)

hey! i was diagnosed on APRIL (GHSV1). I had a severe and painful outbreak, my hsv was confirmed by a PCR (should I RELY on that?). I am so confused about how I contracted it. I just waxed and I had a primary horrible infection, maybe because my skin was so irritated thats why I had I had a huge OB all around my vagina and anus. Im so mad at the salon where I got waxed It was also my first waxing and my skin ended up bleeding too.

Im wondering if because I had a severe OB, does it mean I shed more? or my shedding will be more than the average ghsv1?

Im so worried about transmission, shedding. I haven’t had any other OB, just tingling sensations but thats all.

im do depressed and angry about the way I got it.

I also have ghsv1. Unfortunantely there isn’t much research on it because ghsv2 is most common. I’ve read alot of situations where people get outbreaks after getting waxed. This has nothing to do with the salon but your own body. This means that you contracted the virus from oral sex or someone with ghsv1 at some point and the virus was dormant until you had a traumatic event to that region which caused you to have your first outbreak. The first outbreak is always the most severe and the worst. You aren’t at a higher of transmitting it because you had a severe outbreak. There is some research that says you are more likely to spread it within the first year because your body is still building antibodies to fight the virus. For this reason I choose to be on on daily suppression therapy with valtrex to lower my rate of transmission and give myself and my partner a piece of mind. I too have had some tingly sensations here and there but I will double my dose of valtrex when I start to feel it come on and it will go away quickly. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Remember to take care of yourself and not to stress as that can cause flareups. Feel better!

Thank you so much, I have another question.
If I had it dormant, don’t you think my OB should be mild? because if I contracted it time ago, I think I should have antibodies to prevent a huge or painful OB. Or do you think it was severe because of the traumatic event I had when I waxed.?

i admit that I previously had issues in my lady parts, but always diagnosed with a yeast infection. I NEVER had sores or blisters, just itchy bumps, sometimes with white pus.

Everyone’s bodies react differently to the herpes virus kind of like how people can get different symptoms of the flu. It’s possible you could have had a minor outbreak at some point when you contracted it but didn’t show the same symptoms. When i was diagnosed my doctor told me she’s had elderly women who haven’t had sex in years come in with their first herpes outbreak! Which means they contracted the virus years and years ago but a stressful or traumatic event led them to have an outbreak years later. At the day its impossible to tell when you contracted the virus so to ease your mind I would stop thinking about it. Unless you had sexual partners around the time of your first outbreak than they are usually the culprit. Itchy bumps with white pus could have been an outbreak VERY VERY OFTEN doctors misdiagnose herpes for yeast infections because the symptoms can be similar. Hope this helps answer your questions
