GI problems. Could this be Gallstones? Feedback appreciated

Hi I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar symptoms to myself and got a diagnosis?

I am 24 years old and for the last 2 & 1/2 years I have suffered may GI problems such as nausea 10 mins after eating anything, 'heartburn/reflux' sensation symptoms, I burp constantly even with drinking a glass of water and have random pain mostly startly below my ribs that radiates to my chest and sometimes shoulders. I also sporadically suffer from what I would describe as 'episodes' of almost pre-fainting symptoms every few weeks in which I start yawning uncontrollably, feely very weak, foggy & clammy, feel extremely nausious as if i am going to vomit (but never do), I usually get alot of pain starting below my ribs and radiating throughout my entire toroso, I feel like I might faint but i've never lost conciousness.

I have tried various antacid meds, I have had an endoscope, stomach pH stidies and mamaitry studies of my gullet, blood tests which have all come back normal. I have tried going gluten and dairy free with no joy.

At the moment I have been told that I might just have a sensitive gullet and I have been refered to cardiology about these 'episodes'. My Dr didn't think it would be gallstones as my nausea is too constant?

Any feedback about what symptoms you have experiened or any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds a bit like the symptoms I had. Doctors always think the classic gallstones patient is fair, fat, over forty and fertile with upper right hand quarter pain and pain in right shoulder blade but it's not always the case.

I did not fit the classic gallstone patient. I'm dark haired, admittedly overweight, 67 years old and certainly not fertile as I had a hysterectomy twenty five years ago. My pain was more centralised to begin with. It felt like my stomach was about to explode. The shoulder pain came later. I also don't drink and have never smoked.

The symptoms you describe nausea, burping and reflux are classic along with sickness and diarrhoea but not everyone gets all the symptoms. I had almost constant nausea and lack of appetite. I also had bouts of feeling dizzy and fainted once. I was extremely tired throughout as some of my attacks lasted four days.

I developed jaundice and was in danger of septic shock: pale stools, dark urine, yellowing skin and white of eyes, itching and generally feeling very unwell and weak.

My surgeon advised I ate a low fat diet whilst waiting for surgery. This did help as the attacks were fewer and not so long lasting.

An ultrasound scan usually shows up stones in the gallbladder and bile duct. You could ask your GP to be referred for one.

Hope you get sorted out soon.

Yesterday had my gallbladder out thank goodness. While being in the ward heard lots of patients had the same aches and pains and symptoms for the gallbladder. Immediately after the op my bodily pains have disappeared !! Hopefully it lasts as this is a new experience. I would carry on seeing your doctor until you have the answers with your symptoms. Good luck
