I've had quite a journey with my left hip, following pin and plates at the age of 2, I've had a total left hip replacement followed by 2 revisions due to the implant not taking - all within a 5 year window so as you can imagine muscles and movement in the left hip is not great.
I am now 6 weeks from the due date of my first child and wondered if there was anyone who has had a successful natural birth following a THR? Did it damage your hip, or weaken it? I am so worried that something is going to happen and not sure I could face a 3rd revision 😞
Hi,
I doubt that your hip replacement will prevent you from Natural childbirth. It's the pelvis that widens to allow the baby to come out, not your hip (hip joint).
Hopefully your doctor will be able to ease your concerns.
Best wishes, and Congratulations on the new baby!
I'm very sorry to hear the problems you have had to go through but wish you the very best when your first child is due.
Cheers Richard
Hello,
I had hip displasia form birth and the doctors did not allow me to give birth naturally. Therefore I had C-section during my births, twice.
I would advise You not to take the risk of dislocation.
My two boys are very Healthy, no problem after C-section operation.
Anyway your doctor will decide what is best for you.
Congratulations for your coming baby..
Best wishes
Desire
Hi
I had natural delivery for both my children , it was a unique birth as we all had to find a way to support my hip , which with fan midwife we did, basically they held my leg throughout the later stages . I had so much surgery muscles wasted, range of movement shocking but we did it .
All the very best and hip you get to deliver the way you wish to .
hi tech,
congratulations on your having your first baby, darling --
I don't know the answer to your question however ... would also go with c-section - but this is, of course, very personal and from far away -
please come back here and let us know how you are getting on, okay ...
big warm hug
