Glands worrying me , help please

Id say if you follow your ear lobes down with your finger on either side, are you suppose to able to feel your glands/nodes if you press in? theyre concerning me a lot because i feel them.

Thats is wonderful. They need to be there. They play a huge role in your immune system. Have no fear they are an integral part of your immune system. Thank goodness they are there and you feel them.  This is normal love.

Actually if your holding your head straight and then go straight down, this is not a brilliant way of feeling any lymph nodes, the ones in that area tend to be mixed in with other structures and unless your familiar with finding them, what your feeling could be anything. There are around 300 nodes in the neck.

You don't say why your worried, what symptoms are you getting? being able to feel some structures in your neck isnt surprising, your necks full of things. It is actually pretty common to be able to feel the odd node in the front of your neck or under your jawline but thats pretty meaningless.

Most people who become ill with something that causes swelling of the lymph nodes are often not even aware if it until their Dr points it out, they are just aware of the other symptoms of what is most commonly is an infection.

The symptoms, I've had pghlem/mucus at the back of my throat since march when I had caught a cold. It feels like it sticks to the wall at the back. Had sinus pressure a lot lately but that seems to have gone... but Im really digging into this as I had proper bad night sweats only for 2 days in like april and that's all just 2 days! none since! but i know it's linked with lymphoma

...so that pecks at me, also around the same time it felt like i had swelling inside on the left side of the abdomen and then that disappeared which is where the spleen is. But if i've not had that since april surely that's a good sign right, anxiety crazy this year never been like this

Hi Kieran So you got a cold that left you with some sinusitus and catarrh, catarrh can take ages to clear up. Infections like this will certainly involve the lymphatics, but thats their job, they are part of our immune system. When I was younger I had night sweats very frequently and they are surprisingly common two odd nights isn't worth thinking about and hardly a reason to consider lymphoma. There would also be no connection between the cold symptoms and a lymphoma. Its really difficult to make sense of some of the information you find on the web, Drs never just consider a single symptom, there are all sorts of things to consider in how likely a particular diagnosis is. To be honest what you describe wouldn't even make me think anything was wrong, I'd simply ignore it.

When people get anxiousour brain starts looking for reasons for these feelings of threat and we actively look for anything that might indicate danger. If your examining your neck your bound to feel some structure its an easy step for your brain to label these as dangerous, which of course increases your anxiety, the feelings get worse and this is evidence we really are at risk. Because these are based on feelings rather than logic its hard to get around these, people go repeatedly to hospitals, have investigations that find nothing, are told these is nothing wrong and yet are back again next week. Do a search on health anxiety and look for some free self help material, the more you understand it the better really. There are lots of things you can try to reduce the severity of these feelings and you might find some that work well for you.  Best of luck.

Honestly thank you for such a in-depth reply. I am going to try and not even think about it and just see if the the throat finally clears up just feels like a awfully long time, being stuck with it for 6 months.
