Gliding over the Earth

Hi lovely hippies support group,

today I'm 5.5 weeks into healing post op, and my focus is changing to a slightly more external focus.

i've seen my Alexandra Technique teacher yesterday, and been encouraged to mentally orientate my loose neck, shoulders, long back and pelvis thru to knees and ankles, and glide over the earth, slight swing of arms, so as to improve my posture and sense of well being in recovery. Was good...mindfullness approach..

today my first Tai Chi lesson since the Op. Again I'll be careful, but feel I'm slowly rejoining the human race again.

Did you do Tai Chi before your op?  There is a Tai Chi class at our Leisure Centre but its the same time as my swimming session.  I have done some Alexandra Technique in the past, but must remember to glide over the earth in future!

Hi. Re the swimming.  Do you do frog legs or kick as some say you must not splay your legs.

Hi Barbara

Yes..did both b4 and Gunda my Alexandra teacher thinks this helped my prep for the op.

Not the only paths less travelled, but as you say they are very mindfulness minded...which we need as well as the physical healing.

I just love the phrase - gliding over the earth, I looked up Alexander technique lessons in m area but being London they are very expensive

Hi Valerie,

sorry to hear they are pricey in London......ofter leisure centres or community halls have lower priced 'lessons'...oe even offer a free taster slot.

other options may be close to you: even zumba after eight weeks!

good exploring

zumba!!! i used to do zumba or rather i used to try to do zumba but it actually turned into laughter therapy as me and my friends crashed into each other or just stood and looked confused - laughter therapy is good but i am rather concerned about grashing into someone on my operated side!

....and laughter is the Bestest medicine!
