Gluten Rash

I am allergic to gluten.  I avoid all gluten, but it is very difficult.  I just learned that even seasonings like onion powder, which lists only onion powder in the ingredients, contains gluten in order to make powder.

Consequently, I often have round, itching, open sores.  It oozes a clear liquid, and can last for several months.

In the last 20 years, I have been to several doctors who biopsy it, get an "inclusive" result, and give me medication for eczema or psoriasis.  I know know it is neither of these.

There is an antibiotic, but it has severe side effects.

Has anyone struggled with a gluten rash and have any suggestions for topical meds, or supplements that will speed the healing?

Again, I obviously avoid gluten, but even items that say Gluten Free can have traces unless it  states the item was made in a dedicated facility for Gluten Only.

I know there are more like me, and I'm looking for help from anyone who has had success in managing this rash.

I understand what you are going through. What I started doing is staying away from all package foods, especially spices, and seasonings. I am making my own spices (it's really very easy and tastes so much better). Learn to be very suspicious of anything that's packaged. I am learning to take control at home and when I eat out. My one big rule is' if it looks like it was made in a factory "stay away from it". The best way I know of to manage rashes is to find the triggers and avoid them. For me its "stress", gluten and eggs. Good luck and I hope this was some help.

Yes, it was helpful.  I'm just learning that spices and seasonings can contain gluten.  I'm going to research and start making my own.  My father was also allergic to eggs.  I'm going to stop eating them for a week or so and see if the rash changes.

That's great!! Have fun and be creative too.
