I woke up from sleeping with pain in my Goin and surgical area (THR right side),I took 2 ibuprofen, and been ice packing it.
I was lying on my side (left),which I have been doing for about a week or two with no problems ,I wouldn't be on that side all night just until I start to fall asleep, but tonight when I went to roll on my back the pain started. I am 4weeks post op and recovery has been going ok.
Hi Terrie. Groin pain is awful and I personally suffered from it for many months. Rest rest and more rest. Just do minimum physiology exercises. This is the advice I was given by another hippie on this site and it worked but as I say it went in for months.
Recovery from this op is slow. It's a marathon not a sprint so be gentle with yourself. Don't be discouraged when other people are saying how much they are able to do. We are all different.
I returned to work after 10 weeks. I didn't drive till 8 weeks. It was all hard going and I'm a fit lady with a high pain threshold. I just HRT on with things.
Recovery can be frustrating. Two steps forward one back.
I went on holiday to Australia at 5 months. I was fine but very sore and achy on my return home. This lasted a couple of weeks.
Now nearly 8 months and my hip is good and gets better all the time. It can take 12 months or more to be totally back to normal so 4 weeks my friend is very early days. But you will be fine. Rest take your pain mess and ice. And be patient. I wish you well on your recovery journey. Sandra x
Thank you, rest is my middle name, I feel as though I was going along ok. Than when I woke up from pain it made me feel like I had done something to myself while I was sleeping. .
I go to Physical therapy today so hopefully he'll have answers also.
And am happy that you are feeling great with your THR. take care&stay moving.
It sounds as though you are doing extremely well if all you are taking is Ibuprofen! Groin pain is very common for the first few weeks until your muscles get their strength back through physical therapy (physio). Ice is a great tool for keeping the pain and swelling under control.
I still have groin pain after 4 months. I was told not to sleep on side until after 6 week check in case of dislocation. Maybe it is also a bit soon for this. I was surprised just how bad it feels and thought I had done something until I asked the question recently on this site. It's good to know we are not alone. Sounds like you are doing well though. Keep doing those exercises but get plenty of rest too
Hi Julie, I was also told to wait. But little sleep in weeks I gave it a try a little at a time each night it worked as I started to fall asleep I'd be back on my back.
This Gion pain on my right side woke me up from a sound sleep. My loving and caring husband got up to get me ice and ibuprofen. After 45 min it calmed down. Needless to say I've been awake all night worried that I had done something iny sleep. I am going to PT today so I am praying for some answers.
My left hip has been so sensitive to the touch I can't even put ice on it without it being painful. I had mentioned it to my PT guy, said it might be the bUrsa and it's inflamed he worked on it help a bit but it hasn't gotten any better, I might need a cortisone injection. It's common I am told so my next visit to the doctors I will be asking for a injection. MAY4TH. let's hope that helps.
Thank you for your response, take care and hope all goes well for you to...
