Hello Guys
Well 12wks post op and heading back to work in a few days as a HGV Driver ... Everything gong pretty well My knee bend 90' degrees But having a little discomfort with muscle stiffness and ankle discomfortt
Upto the 8 week point things went really well walking unaided and driving within 6wks .. Then the proverbial brick wall decided to pop up and things slowed down rapidly . Hopefully back to work will help to improve my movement
Has anyone experienced the the slow down effect and ankle pain after the 8 week period
Cheers !!! John
Yes. You think you are ok and then it comes back with a bang I found. Just make sure you won't overdo anything, you are still at early days I think. You have a job where you are stuck in one position for a long time too. Are you really ready to go back to work?
Hi John, thanks for posting this - I will be 9 weeks post TKR tomorrow, and literally in the past couple of days I feel like I've taken a real hit to my confidence, with terrible stiffness and pain😞
Seems like I'm (relatively) normal after all! Good luck with your return to work, although I do wonder if it's a bit too soon .... keep us posted and take very good care of yourself xx
Definitely this is me and at 14 weeks still stiff and at brick wall. Went right back at about eleven weeks. Making v little progress since returning to work. Physio said it was muscles being asked to do too much as brain not trained to accept demands. and return to ice exercisesetc might help. Massage and drinking a lot of water etc also important. I am fed up but in my head I know it's really time and keep thinking this time next month .... Good luck
Hi John
I actually experienced problems at the 5-week stage and although I managed driving fine at the 6-week stage, walking just got harder and harder. I amazed that you'll be able to get up and down from the cab. You don't say which knee you've had done: from a driving perspective, I found that the accelerated knee was far more uncomfortable than the clutch one, as the heel is always on the floor and it jolts right through with every bump in the road. As Susan said, you may find it difficult when you've been sitting for a long time, so take care. I work at home and the sitting at my desk has really not helped!

Can't really remember John sorry. I had TKR 3 years ago.
All I can say is that now it is like having my life back, hope it will be the same for you.
Take care and keep in touch
Love Sarah
I am 7 weeks & I find sitting for more than an hour makes me really stiff & painful. Hope you can stop frequently & stretch those knees out.
