Well it has been an interesting journey this total hip replacement and now I will be returning to work after 12 challenging weeks. I've had some up's and some down's, this is my before and after x-rays and I can honestly say I feel amazing. I can now walk with no pain, I no longer limp, I can climb stairs, I can bike ride and I can take walks. I will be taking a back seat to commenting and wish all who are contemplating hip replacement well and those I've met here you have all been a wealth of knowledge, a shoulder to cry on, and so much motivation and encouragement I want to thank you all. I am one happy hippy.

I've been lucky to have had 3 months off to recover and have had a very uncomplicated recovery. I feel amazing compared to my years prior to the replacement. I worked for a long time in horrible pain and now that's gone. So yes I'm ready.
I'll definitely pop in when I can to see how everyone is getting on. Everyone here has kept me so upbeat and motivated I can't thank you all enough.

I have not had my THR yet but will be in a couple of months, one thing I'd like to ask you now that you are 3 months post op, can you bend your knee up to your chest and are you as flexible as you were before, can you do cretain yoga positions? Sorry that's more than one! Am I being unrealistic to expect to get back to what I could do before the op?

I might be able to bend my knee up to my chest but I've not tried that and I've never done yoga but I'm sure I could. I've gained back a lot of flexibility just still being very careful I don't want to dislocated my implant

Marilyn, I'm an,operating room nurse where I had my surgery done, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank New Jersey. Have been working there for 28years.
Oh I'll,be popping in just not as often as I won't be home all day anymore. Have to say having 3 months off was nice.
I only had 2 months off and did enjoy it -mostly!!!!
I have just been given some mild sleeping tablets one at night to help me sleep, how I hate lying on my back too also lucky I didn't have to wear the lovely white stockings as I was given a one day tablet for dvt but I have noticed that my new hip does click every so often and the left hip aches at night in sympathy no doubt but other than that pretty good I am only about 3.5 weeks post operation so early days yet, I work as a cashier in a shop so will have to be very careful not twist it in case I dislocated it
susan, can i ask you have you noticed any clicking in your new hip, i get quite a bit of it i did ring the hospital where i had it done and spoke with the physio team all they said was that they had heard of this happening wondered if you experianced these feelings
