I'm supposed to be making a cross switch from venlafaxine to escitalopram going from 300 mgs of ven to 10 mgs of escitalopram. Anyone's experiences.?
Have you made the switch? I am soon to be doing this too though the gp is introducing 5mg of escitalopram whilst I wean off the venlafaxine.
I'm now on 10 mgs escitopram and having minimal effects from venlafaxine withdrawal. I'm completely off venlafaxine for two weeks and some days now from being on 300 mgs for quite some time. I feel a little better but I suffer from a lot of anhedonia which is constant sense of boredome and disinterest in every aspect of life which could get uncomfortable. I also reduced greatly my dose of aripiprazole(abilify) recently due to restlessness. Each day I feel a bit better so I'm hoping I feel good soon. My doc says it takes a couple of months or the effects to kick in.
Glad to hear you feel a little better each day it's sure a long haul process isn't it? I was doing really well on venlafaxine until about 3 weeks ago and out of the blue my anxiety returned and led me into depression. I am collecting my prescription for escitalopram tomorrow and will be lowering the ven to 75mg so hopefully another few weeks and ill start feeling better
Jim may i ask how long did you withdraw from venlafaxine
Been completely off venlafaxine for about 25 days. No major withdrawal effects as I've been taking escitalopram. Just still feeling depressed.
I see a physciatrist yesterday who said it's unusual to mix venlafaxine and escitalopram together so I've got 2 weeks to withdraw from venlafaxine before he ups the escitalopram to 10mg.
Hi Natalie,
How are you doing?
I saw a new group of mh specialists today and have been put on escitalopram 5mg. (am over sensitive to medication) have been taking venlafaxine (terrible drug) and am on 18.75mg time release. Advice is to stop taking the venlafaxine and on the same evening take the escitalopram.
Did you take both on the same day, or did you stop the venlafaxine before starting the escitalopram???
Different posts, so don't know what to do,
take care
