going out with friends scared!

please pray for me im just scared of having a panic attack and my derealization getting bad but i wanna go out and have fun i hate anxiety and depression

I will say a prayer for you Tammi.  Even people that don't suffer from anxiety, panic and depression get anxious and afraid at times when going into a social situation with friends.  Just remember that the anxiety/panic is not going to kill you, it might feel like it at times when having an attack, but it won't, believe me. 

Try and focus/concentrate on your friends more and not on your worries of possibly having an attack.  What I mean by that is, talk to your friends, notice what they are wearing, notice where you are when you go out, ie. just soak in your surroundings and try and forget about yourself for awhile.  Not easy, I know from experience Tammi.  I like the name Tammi, but don't care for Toxic.  Doubt very much that you are toxic in any way, shape or form.  Take a deep breath, get dollied up and go out and have a good time.  Happy New Year! x

 

Hi tammi I totally understand what you are saying. However you are young you should go out and have fun. Take some time to yourself before you go out have a bath a relax, listen to a guided meditation and practice deep breathing. Hopefully this will make you calmer. I'm sure once your out and have taken your mind of your symptoms you will have a great time. Let's hope 2016 a better year x

You can do this Tammi, don't let anxiety bluff you into thinking you can't, take a deep breath, loosen those tense muscles and accept your feelings.

Then concentrate on the good parts, you want to do this and it involves having fun, tell yourself that yes you may feel awful at times but you can still be a part of all the fun, you will see friends, you will laugh,I am sure you have made an effort to look good for your night out so now look anxiety right in the eye and say 'you will not take this night from me, I look great, I earned this night'.

If you panic find a quiet space if you need it, take a few moments and then return to your friends, concentrate on being occupied with things going on around you and repeat 'I can and I will'.
