Today I am 11weeks post op recovering well but still cant sleep on my operated side too tender how long before I can I wonder? Also not had a bath yet just a shower waiting til next week for that still conscious of my hip having its titanium in it ( it set off the alarm in farm foods the other day!) otherwise the best thing I ever did having the op
Good morning Ruth. Whilst I am sorry to hear that sleeping on the bad side is still a problem, the thought of setting off a shop alarm made me smile, so thank you for sharing this. Laughter is the best medicine they say. I look forward to being arrested by a hunky security guard. At my age you are grateful to be manhandled under any circumstances! . Good luck with your recovery.
Thank you Jennifer I am 67 so I thought that too!
Morning Ruth
Like Jennifer I too sympathise with you of course but you thinking of you setting off alarms made me laugh 😀. I am 64 and 12 weeks post op. Like you I found it quite uncomfortable to sleep on my operated side to begin with so tried it just for a few minutes to begin with and then gradually increased the time. Started with a pillow between my knees but now don't use one. It was the same when I started going upstairs without a crutch it was quite painful to begin with but after trying it a few steps at a time for a week or so I found I could walk up and down stairs without pain.
I also haven't tried having a bath and I'm planning to have my first one since the op this weekend. Can't wait.
Have a lovely weekend
Linnet x
Morning Ruth. I'm pretty much the same as you. I can't lay on my operated side, it's far too sore. I was wondering if it was ok or if I should be seeing my GP, so you have put my mind at rest.
i'm 66 & 10weeks post op yesterday. Still too scared to even try getting in the bath although I would love to lay & soak.
i may have a trip out to farm foods now, see if I can set alarms off.x
Thankyou linnet I will keep trying like you say for a few mins on my side because that and a bath are the last two achievements to accomplish going to Matalan this morning hope I don't set the alarms off there!
Hi Val ha ha you might set them off if Yu have a titanium hip like me 😊 the young chap asked me to go around again to make sure it was me!. I am looking forward to a bath not sure how I will get out yet though!
I am quite disappointed I haven't set any alarms off yet, but I suppose there's still time!
😊 There was me thinking it only happened at airports!
Hi well done! I am just over 6 weeks and still very bruised and can't sleep properly yet! I am still having a shower as I also have arthritis in my knee as well on the same side as the hip! I am also sad as I am an I'll carer for my disabled husband! He too has oa on going for many years, with meds that don't work as well as they should! Also he's deaf and severely sighted! I have tried to sleep on the good side but end up on my back!! Regards Amanda
Hi Amanda you are doing very well as you have a disabled husband and he is not able to help you but things will get better I am sure with the better weather coming makes a lot of difference
mine set off the alarm in Tescos - female security guard tho
Hi thank you! My goal is a mini break away on the 16th may to a hotel with a jacuzzi! As we celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary! We still have a care package in place for Hugh, as I am still struggling! Much to the fury of social services! Have a good weekend! Regards Amanda
