good to share experiences

Thanks to all for the exchanges going on-certainly helps to alleviate some anxiety/apprehension. Interesting to note how in UK colonoscopies seem to be conducted under sedation-here in France a general aneaesthetic is common as in USA  (am told by my GP tis very light anaesthetic)..which is a relief -since dont want to feel to groggy.

I have had this wierd kind of sensation in my back passage ( kinda like a tension-not too dissimilar to the kind of sensation of having your knickers caught up right there!) As it happens I do have a fibroid which has been there for some time which also seems to be pressing close to rectum(this could account for the pressure along with mild internal piles).

There is no cause for concern over fibroid according to the ultra sound-and am being monitored for a year to check out if its shrinking.. (Hoping the acupuncture helps with this). Am 66 and a colonoscopie was recommended just to check things out.

Scheduled to take CitraFleet later today-1st lot at 19 hrs and next lot tomorrow at 06 00am..gotta be at the hospital at 11.15am.. Wish me luck. Had my lunch around 2pmish-not gonna have anything more to eat-although a light supper is authorised for 6.30pm..must admit not feeling hungry.

Hi Anna - I wish you luck but sure you

I will try again ... Yes I wish You luck but am sure you won't need it I had min

Actually, in the Southern States of the USA, Colonoscopies tend to be done, by default, with sedation and pain meds although general aneaesthetic is usually available.  Mine was done without meds and I tolerated it very well.  Some groaning and gasping but nothing scary. I have no idea why I tolerated it so well and it is not something I would tell any newbie to do it unless they were highly motivated.  Pay attention to the prep and don't hesistate to call the clinic or hospital if you feel the prep is not doing its job.  Mine had issues and even a 1.5 liter enema didn't clean everything out on top of the prep I was given.  I am curious on the position your doctor used.   I was on my left side but the Sigmoidoscopy done years ago was with the feet in the stirrups and on the back position, typical for gyno exams in the USA, which was more comfortable for me.
