Wow long time to wait:-( you will be overjoyed with the results :-) xx

That is a long wait! But, you should be very happy with the outcome. Just remember that patience is key to recover fully. Do your exercises and physio and rest as needed.and ensure that family and friends kick in to ehlp.

Best of luck.

Best wishes for your surgery and for a speedy and healthy recovery. I am 7 weeks post THR operation, no pain, no discomfort, and walking without any assistive devices. First few days are uncomfortable as you adjust to comfortable sleeping and sitting positions. Start physical therapy immediately after surgery and push yourself a bit more each day. Two things that helped me was: a positive attitude, and a resolve not to take opioid pain meds. I found that Aleve or Advil are just as effective and while avoiding the complication of inadvertent opioid addiction. Again, best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

Hi there. Thank-you, wow that's great happy for you, glad your having a good recovery. Did you have to sit on a special chair?. Did you get up on the same day as your surgery?. I've started to have a positive attitude more now than before. I am getting my right one done first then my left in 2 years time. I am already on medication as I have avascular necrosis of both hips do you think they will

Put me on more?. Once again, thank-you

hi megan,

Usually  a physical therapist will come a couple of hours after you have returned to the ward - depending on what time you had your surgery -

he/she will get you out of bed to stand on your legs (if full weight bearing) and do a couple of steps - maybe also shown how to get out and in to bed - following day longer walks, some exercises and sitting in chair -

I did not have a special chair but some people do - I used a dining room chair and had a thick pillow on it - it helps if the chair has arms so you can push your self up -..

anyway, I would follow doctor's orders - it is not fun to take pain medication, but it does help to get you moving - motivated, so to speak, which you won't have when you are in pain - pain is from surgery and not the grinding awful bone pain ...

Happy belated birthday

warm embrace

Hi there.

Thank-you wasn't sure so thank-you as they sit to me it will either be the same day as your surgery or the day after to get up from the bed. When I was in previously for a operations I never got out of bed till 3 weeks after my surgery and I was in for 8 weeks till I got home.

They told me that I will need to sit with a chair that have arms and I am not aloud to sit on my sofa for 12 weeks or less not sure if that just depends how my recovery goes. I had a special chair from the previously operation as I have a metal frame in so just gonna use that to see how it goes. They gave me a thick pillow to sit on and a new toliet seat as I already have one.

I will do I will just need to take each day as it comes .

Thank-you ☺️
