Wish I'd known about them years ago but better late than never.
Thanks Richard for your mention of them!

Dear Vickie
Excellent, so glad you are pleased with them!
Cheers Richard
Vickie, what are Nordic Walkers?
Dana
I think Vickie sent you a link to them but that got moderated. Nordic walkers are long walking sticks. You have one in each hand and place one for each step. It looks similar to cross country skiing. Lots of walkers use them as you distribute the effort between lega and arms. But for hippies it encourages you to walk more normally and limp less.

Thanks Mike for the info!
Thanks michael11283,
It sounds like they'd really help. I appreciate your help and Vickie's, too. I'm sure I can find them now.
I see ditched my crutches after 1 week in favour of walking poles, they were brilliant.
Dear Fernlady,
Thanks for your positive note. I'm going to look them up now. However, I took a horrible fall early Saturday morning and landed vertically on my surgical leg--on my knee. It felt like my femur was shoved up my back. The pain now is awful and I'm afraid I've dislocated or damaged the prosthesis. I just pray I didn't. I am 4 months along. An appt. Wednesday will let me know. I'm really scared and don't know how to tell by looking at it. I'm still checking into them, though. It's been a rough 4 months and I don't think the pain will ever go away. Crazy thing, my knee was hurting more after surgery than my hip. I still can't bend it to cross my legs. I'm such a mess! Thanks again for your input.
Dana
I sent you a private message :-)
Sorry to hear about your fall. Prayers for you. Please let us know what you find out at your appointment.
Take care 8
Pleas disregard the "8" lol oops silly smart phone :-)
Vickie
As far as I can see this forum doesn't allow any links. So you can put "do a google search for walking poles" but you can't put the link in your reply.
It means the moderators don't need to follow links to see if they are ok.
Mike
Seems that the only alternative is to provide enough information to allow for an internet search or send the link in a private message.
Cheers Richard

How awful, I hope it's not as bad as that. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
I think stiffness and pain in the knee and ankle is not uncommon. Fluid tends to move down the leg. Keeping it up and movement should help to bring the swelling down but until you've seen the doctor tomorrow you probably just need to rest it.
Mike
Thx Michael
I wouldn't wish to cause any problems here :-)
Thank you Richard I did send a PM :-)
