Got my surgery date for my hepaticojejunostomy

Hi Guys

I heard back from the Heptobiliary surgeon today

I am having my hepaticojejunostomy next tuesday sept 6th at University of Chicago.

I am nervous..but hopeful that this long nightmare of sickness and pain Might be coming to an end soon.I know it will be a hard recovery..But anything is better than nausea, fatigue daily.

What is an Heptobiliary surgeon for?

Good luck for your surgery and recovery.

Good luck!! Keep us posted

I'm glad you got a surgery date.  Waiting is the worst part.  I hope you find some relief soon.

Hi.I had my gallbladder taken out.The heptobiliary surgeon is a liver transplant and biliary specialist. My problem is that I have a piece of my gallbladder that is still present. It has become infected with a staph infection, plus my cusyic duct and common bile ducts are narrowed (strictured)so the bile cannot go from my liver to my intestines.I also have some stones in one of my ducts athat also blocking the flow of bile. The specialist will be going in and taking out the rest of my infected gallbladder and then he will be making new ducts from my liver and join them to my intestines..hopefully to restore the bile flow. Its a huge surgery.I am nervous but so ready for this to be done.I am tired of being nauseated, loss of appettite, pain, jaundice, fevers, itching, and fatigue.

Thank You

Thank You I will

Thanks for the answer and I hope you get better after the surgery!

Thank you. .I am so praying for this to work and for no complications.I will be happy with 75% of my old normal self..pre gallbladder removal.

Me too.

What was the reason for your surgeries? Did you have complications?

Yes..my gallbladder exploded. .so when they took other out. There was a piece left in.it became infectious. And then my common bile duct and cystic duct strictured..narrowed.not sure if it was from the inflammation or what..I am hoping the new hepaticobiliary. Dr will have some idea after my surgery.

That sounds awful for you. I hope its all good from now on.x

hi there debra i hope all goes well with your surgery. i have had this operation that your going to have. i feel100% better than i did before i had it. i can eat most foods also i have been looking for someone who has had this operation for a few months and could not find anyone. im 65 and the operation lasted for 5 hours. i was in the hospital for 1 week only. and i live 4 flights up stairs up. i still would like to find someone who has had this operation as there are things i'd like to find out. i was so very ill before this operation and had an ERCP which was did not work and i have whats called mirizzis syndrome. i just want to offer you some hope.

So I am almost 6 weeks post operation. All of my symptoms are gone, no nausea,no fever,no vomiting..I do have no appetite what so ever and some swelling at the surgical site..Otherwise it has been sucessful.7 more weeks of recovery before i can lift over 10 lbs..

So glad to hear debra! Sounds like you're on a good road to recovery. Good luck!

So far so good.felling so much better..no vomiting no nausea no fever no jaundice no gagging up bile...the only problems are still no appetite. .I lost 62 lbs. from original date of surgery on Feb 19th until now.. (which I needed to lose anyway )..I have so stretching of the Surgical scar and swelling. .if it gets bad I'll call the surgeon. There is numbness of my abdomen skin..itches occasionally. .but not like before the surgery. I am tired alot. I am so thankful that the surgeon tool my case..5 others at the University of chicago heptobiliary specialist said no way..it was a mess in there. This surgeon saved my life.I would have died of sepsis if it wasn't done

.I still don't sleep on my side. .but eventually I will.

I can eat anything so far with no problems. It does hurt in the Surgical site when I get gas or have a bowel movement...I am feeling so grateful.

Hi..it's December 21 2016 and my surgery was successful. I am 95% better...no more pain..I just have a small sporadic amount of nausea..I had a great surgeon. .I highly recommend going to a University Hospital. .They usually have the most up to date surgeons. Hope everyone is also doing better. Best wishes as we close out this horrible 2016 year..

That is great news 95% must feel so much better, Debra.

I'm scheduled for surgery next week, mixed emotions after waiting so long.

It has been a tough year for many of us, so I second your good wishes to all who have struggled and hope the next will be so much better. Take care.
