Well I finally got my hip replacement woohoo ...got out surgery Monday night at 5...was up on crutches and had a shower yesterday ...I was sick a couple of times due to the meds but now I feel great I am sore and stiff but that's no where near the pain I was in 🤞Here's hoping it stays like that...not sleeping great as I love sleeping on my tummy 😩Up every couple hrs for the toilet by the time I do that it tires me out...I did have a catheter in as I struggled to pee but got it out after few hrs.
Good luck to everyone who's going in for operations
Well done Leanne. So pleased you are doing so well. I am 10 days post op and only up every 3-4 hours so it does get better. Sleeping is not easy on my back by after having hip1 done in March I am sure I was sleeping on op side by 8 weeks.
Good luck to all hippies about to join the group. It's def so worth it. Can't wait to have recovered from Op 2 and get back to normal. XX
Excellent news. Aim to make steady progress and know how far and fast to push yourself and aim for a good balanced walking gait....speed will build up in time and do the exercises because you will have a lot of muscle strength to regain.
Doing good with my exercise...1 I find so difficult but try push through it...once I get up and moving..I go good..happy with my movement...get home today 😊
welcome home darling - I am so happy for you that it is done , that you are doing so well and the wait was not too long -
you can expect to tire easily so take your time with everything you do - do your exercises at a comfortable level right now - Your body (and you) just had major invasive surgery and need time to heal - pushing through it might damage the fragility of repaired tissue etc -
while resting healing is taking place the most -
listen to your body and be gentle with your self
alwasy come here when you hae a concern, question or just want to chat ...
You will find the first few days tough with the exercises but just try to make steady progress at whatever pace you find comfortable. I hope you have some help organised for when you get home and for the first few days if possible.
I have my hubby and kids at home running around after me...not sleeping well which I expected but my leg has bad cramps which is really uncomfortable the swelling is going down and keeping up with the exercises...I feel I can move around good and prefer being on my feet as my butt gets sore or the cramp sets in lol
I used to suffer from leg cramps and for me was to drink tonic water with quinine or just buy the 300mg tablets which are just as effective. I've not had leg cramps for months now. Worked instantly!
