Hi, I am new here. I have Graves disease and my TSH FT4 and T3 are all under control. I take 1 Tapazole 5mg per day. I just had my levels cjhecked and they are really good. My problem is palpitations, can you still get these symptoms even if the levels are good.T4Free 12.8...T3 Free 4.5 and TSH 1.24. Thanks for any advice
Hi Maddy,
I was able to get my results to normalize when I took Acetyl-L-Carnitine along with my low dose of Methimazole. However, my values were at the lower end of the normal range and I had palpitations. I then discontinued the Acetyl-L-Carnitine and cut my Methimazole to 2.5 mg per day and they went away. So perhaps the same thing is happening to you. Now that your levels are fine, perhaps your doc needs to advise you to discontinue your meds or cut them in half. I would not do that without consulting with him/her though.
Hi Linda
Thanks for your reply. I am due an appointment with my endo next week so I will see what he says. Wit Graves disease even though it is under control, will I still get many of the symptoms? Thanks
It's difficult to say because everybody's experience is different. I am on the lowest dose of antithyroid meds and I have been stable since 2009. I know you have to avoid stress because that is one of the things that really triggers this disease, also watch your diet, avoid aspartame and gluten and sugar.
