Graves eye disease

Hi I have graves eye disease and my eyes have changed got put on steroids but no change and now talking about orbit decompression surgery. Has anyone had this?

I have not had this but know of people on other boards who have.  They mostly are very happy with the results.  Some people posted they achieved less bulging and swelling when they used Witch Hazel.  I think they put it on a cloth, closed their eyes and rubbed the eyelids with it.  Some have said the swelling went down.  You can find Witch Hazel at Walmart here, don't know where you get it in Britain, perhaps pharmacy stores.

Hi I'm just about to start this correction surgery was never offered to me I've had to ask!  Had first appointment. And ct scan awaiting 2 appointments then it's all  systems go hopefully!  I've been left for over10 years like this!

Its better if you can go for orbit decompression surgery if this will be better and protective treatment for your eyes.

Hi I've had thyroid disease for three and a half years now. It started with hyperthyroidism, my eyes bulged out except one bulged out more than the other. My doctor suggested having a thyroidectomy first, and then surgery on the eyes. So that's what happened haha. Two years ago I had orbital decompression on both eyes, twice on my left eye and three times on my right eye. The eyes haven't rebulged, and I no longer have double vision, or pain. But I'm still on the mission to making my eyes somewhat symettrical again, 11 eyelid surgeries later and they still aren't right. I'm scheduled for more eyelid retraction in July p.s. my right eye still waters abnormally and has the appearance of a bulging eye considering my eyelids are too open
