I highly recommend that anyone with LS try what's called The Mona Lisa. It's a lazor treatment that helps your skin produce new healthy skin cells.
It has changed my life. It's a bit painful but nothing compared to a bad day with LS. My female doctor offered it in his office.

Hi Tracey. Was this in the UK? I have my first attack at the moment having already had LP on my tongue. Misery with LS for months before a diagnosis and had to pay for that. Am half way through a course of steroids but the only thing that soothes is Vagasil. Does anyone know of any other creams over the counter that help. GP cream was no good. Wilma

tracy15495, I agree with you. I have completed my treatment (4 months post treatment) and it has improved my 'parts' immensely! The tissue is more plump and youthful. The tears and itching are gone. The moisture production is back to normal. I do sometimes have some discomfort after being intimate with my husband, but nothing compared to what I was experiencing. I think it may be due to waiting so long to find this treatment. Perhaps the tissue had shrunk? Overall, I have to say I am a believer!
I just wish that insurance companies would recognize this as a valid treatment and cover it. I had to pay out of pocket and it was quite expensive. My company has a flexible spending account option, where you can put pre-tax dollars aside for medical treatments and deductibles. I was able to utilize that to pay for it.
I had the procedure done in my gynocologist office as an outpatient. There were three treatments four weeks apart. I think the last one was the most uncomfortable, the reason for this I believe, is because the tissue is returning to normal and there is more feeling coming back.
All in all, I definitely recommend the procedure. It has given me my life back!

I am assuming you are in the states Tabby. Have just had a look on line and (as usual) it is not recommended in the UK. Does anyone know of an over the counter cream that would help, nothing I have tried seems to make much difference. And how I agree with you about the tears, I feel that I have been taken over by an alien.

Tracy, can you post the cost? A dr here in FL offers it but for me it would be out of pocket with my outrageously high deductible. Also, is it one treatment or several over months?

For me, it was three treaments, 4 weeks apart. The cost was approx. $700 for each treatment, for a total of $2100. The doctor asked for the first $1400 prior to the first treatment. The remaining $700 was paid at the last treatment. As I said above, my employer has a Flexible Spending savings plan, in which I am able to put pre-tax dollars aside for medical treatment, deductibles, etc. This was what I used. I put additional monies in it this year. I don't typically put that much in it.
Out of pocket it was $500 and normally it takes 3 treatments. I used Dr Fink at baptist main on kendall. Even though my deductible wasn't met my insurance did cover it, so make sure you have the doctor run it to check. I also use Care Credit it gives you so many months interest free for medical. I promise it's worth every penny.
I used Dr Fink at Baptist Main. He only wants you to pay per treatment and it was $500 with no insurance. Definitely worth it
Yes I am in Florida. I unfortunately don't know of anything over the counter. I do use baby body wash and toilet paper for sensitive skin. I also realized that if I use any antihistamine or any drug that is for drying you out makes the outbreak worse. I have used Unjelly to help with the rubbing. I'm not sure why they don't recommend it in the UK. All I can say it that I have not had any side effects and I feel like a normal person again. Because I had such horrible scaring I have had 5 treatments and all is well again for the first time in many years. I actually look forward to Sex again. 😀

I have BCBS of Florida. I had to pay $100. I'm not sure of the code they used. Do you think that would be on my insurance summary? If so i can look and let you know.
Hi Tracy, it would be on the EOB where they explain the benefits along with what the Dr charged, what he insurance allowed and then your responsibility. I have a feeling I am stuck since I have an individual deductible of 6000 per year. Not bad while paying out 1200 per month(sarcasm)

Please do if you have it. I was told by BCBS there was not a code for it so therefore it would not be covered.
I'm going out of town tonight but I will look when I get back. If I can't find it I go to the same doctor on the 17th and I will ask while I'm there.
