I had Green Light Laser Prostate Surgery about 3 weeks ago. My doctor said I could start having intercourse and I still do not have a any feeling in my penis. Is this normal and will this change. I can't imagine what life will be like if I can't have an erection and orgasm.
Before the surgery I could have an erection & orgasm. Can anyone give me any advice
or let me know there is hope to return to a good sex life.
I had conventional TURP 18 months ago and did not have any problems with erections afterward. Only suffered retrograde ejaculation. Had sex on post op day 14. Everything worked well until I had RP5 months post TURP.

It is not normal you should contact your urologist. How is the rest of your recovery going? Are you in the UK or the USA?
I woke up the morning after GL with an erection while my catheter was still in. A friend had sex on day six but I was patient and waited till around day fifteen.
I didn't really feel too interested until 7 weeks after my holep, a comparable op though they cut more out that way, than with GL. I recall googling a lot about this at the and I found that most sites said abstain for 2 months after TURP, whereas for GL, Thulep and Holep there was mixed advice some saying 1 month, most saying 1 to 2 months, a few saying 2 months. Remember that you may not yet have shed your scar tissue, that happens at between 2 and 6 months (the tissue is hard to see, the clots that follow and possible bleeding are very evident thouhg) - a contraction of prostate muscle could cause the lot to detach on all sides at once and block you up requiring tiresome catheterisation. I found first two times after holep at 7 and 8 weeks, erection was easy as it ever was, sensation before ejaculation was fine, but at ejaculation alarmingly I felt NOTHING. I waited another fortnight, and it was somewhat better, 18 months on I have most but not all of the sensation back. If I was you I'd hold off at just 3 weeks after the op, it entails minor risks as described, purely to satisfy your curiosity/anxiety ... and the first few times will probably be rubbish anyway. I note your uro' said OK at 3 weeks, that is earlier than almost any other uro would say.
OOOPS I wrote "Remember that you may not yet have shed your scar tissue, that happens at between 2 and 6 months"
I meant to write
"Remember that you may not yet have shed your scar tissue, that happens at between 2 and 6 WEEKS"
That doesn't sound tight. I was able to have an erection and intercourse 4 weeks after my HoLEP and had full feeling from day 1.
I had a TURP 6 years ago and I never had an good climax after the operation. My urologist told me he haven't heard of it before but I also don't think he knows much of his own profession. I've seen endless men on the internet who've been totally frustrated and surprised about the climax after urologists have told them that everything will be o k.Nobody could have prepared me for the shock I had when I had my first climax after that dreadful operation and even more shocking when I realised that its not at all getting any better the second and third time .

Give it time, my friend. Give it time.
