grinding teeth

been on 150mg of venlafaxine for 4 weeks now and started to notice im grinding my teeth during the day, anyone else experience this?

I didn't grind my teeth outright during the day on Ven, but I did clench a lot.  I definitely ground my teeth at night, greatly contributing to bone loss and gum recession :-(  I didn't realize that was happening or that ven could be the cause.

i think its the ven Betsy.....

I was just thinking it may just be your nerves butto think about it when I was up on 225mg, I was always clenching my steering wheel so tight my hands hurt afterwards. I am being tapered off it now because the side effects are awful.

the doc wants me to go up to 225, or even double the 150mg i am on just now, i have had no side effects so far part from the teeth grinding, what are you on now Joanne?

That is so interesting!  I think I also did a lot of hand clenching as well as fidgeting.  I can tell you that you need to go very carefully with the taper.  Most doctors have you go too fast, and you end up with withdrawal symptoms which include anxiety and depression.  Then, the doctor will declare that you have relapsed and need to go on another drug.  Don't buy into it!  It happened to me.  Ven has a horrific withdrawal syndrome associated with it.  Due to what I went through and what I have subsequently learned, I created this post so that I could refer people to it:

If halving your pills for the cuts, that is a 50% drop that your nervous system will not be happy with!  Also, your system should be given time to stabilize between cuts, where you feel GOOD, but the docs have you make another cut before your system has a chance to respond to the previous one, causing more destabilization!

How is your doctor having you taper, Joanne?
