hi not comment lately just been following thought things were going ok but two months in have started experiencing groin and pubic discomfort could this be due to putting more pressure on by using the stick hardly at all it starts as soon as I wake
Hi june
Isn't it odd how these niggly things come up as we are just getting better.
Probably using muscles more than you normally would. Also the balance is not the same when using a stick. Will it calm down if you rest more?
It started on me sooner than that but I am in that 3% group that you don't want to be in. Could be soft tissue tears or whatever else. I would just bring it up with your doctor any concerns or questions that you may have
Hi June, you may be able to account for the discomfort if you reflect on what you have been doing more of lately. Sometimes aches and pains can be attributed to something u did four of five days earlier More than likely the pain is due to you fully weight bearing with out the stick . Using different muscles and tendons Don't think negative thoughts just yet. You are still very much in the early stages of the healing process. Keep a note though and if the pain persists of worsens you can seek professional advice. Please let us know how you get on. Best wishes Annie
Hello All. I am in the initial stages of hip problems , and yet to confront the docs and physio, although have had Xrays that six months ago inplied that my problem wasnt as urgent as i imagined , how things change, now constant pain and stiffness have prompted me to seek medical advice again, but the wind is verily put up me when i read some of the comments written here , ,, legs ending up unequal in length and ongoing pain for years after surgery, and not too many mentions of proceedures going without hitch or long term negative affects blighting otherwise good surgical practice. .I guess there will come a point where the need for pain control, and the inability to undertake every day tasks comfortably will superceed any fears of the journey through hip replacement being a minefield, one can just hope for the best by following all the rules and keeping a positive attitude
Hi June,
I agree- very possible that by not using the stick, your walk is different -
make sure that your posture is straight and relaxed, take steps heel to toe and complete steps, move your arms and shoulders as well - there is a good youtube video about how to walk properly (thanks Keena) - it will take time and might feel akward at first - don't ditch the stick yet, okay - I am 13 weeks post-op from 2nd THR and oh boy, just getting the hang of walking properly ... I still take my cane with me outside the house and use it when I go shopping - even take it with me when i go for a walk, just in case i get tired and start doing the pinguin waddle again -
one step at a time darling and it will be fine - don;t force anything and erst when in pain okay ....
big warm hug
renee
P.S. don't forget to completely stretch out (in bed) for at least 20-30 minutes -
My groin muscles are so darn tight or at least feel that way
Definitely Reg, you reach the point of having no life and being in pain, anything is an improvement.
Having said that there are huge numbers of successful operations, just on the forum people will naturally look for advice for any problems, you are unlikely to keep posting how well you are. Apart from being annoying to others if done repeatedly, you will be too busy living your life to have the time with a little luck
Take heart that 95 per cent are a success, when your hip starts to completely ruin your life you will not care about the 5 per cent! And will go into the operation hopeful that all will be well x
