HI I have HS and was diagnosed around 4-5 years ago. I have always since a teenager suffered with Acne. I have good and bad spells. At the moment i have 2/3 flare ups around my groin. one has been there 4-6 weeks and doesn't heal its always a open hole. The other have recently appeared one on the opposite groin and the other below the existing one. They are very dark and painful. I can see others appearing as the skin is getting dark etc
Try avoiding any type of SUGAR for about a week and see if they begin to feel slightly better.

I have (had) HS around my groin as well.
I had laser hair removal + surgery on both sides, so far so good. 
I would suggest taking Zinc Gluconate. I have read a study where people were taking 90Mg per day for HS.
I have been taking only 30Mg per day for 2 months and have not had any flare ups
