Groin pain after ceramic THR 4 weeks ago

I had THR June 22nd. All has been well, not on pain meds, walking slowly until today, out of nowhere I got excrutiating pain in my groin with every step I take. Ok when sitting or standing but now I can't walk. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

Hello Paula

Have you been doing physio exercises that you were given in hospital?  Perhaps heat beads will help. I have had problems with the psoas tendon that gives off groin pain and did hydrotherapy as well as deep muscle massaging from a physotherapst (sheer torture, but worked).  It may be time to speak to your doctor for advice.

All the best.

dear paula

warm welcome to the hippies forum ...

so sorry to hear about your pain though ...

You mention that you are not on pain medication anymore and how it got better when you took one ...

You might have stopped too soon -

I was advised to stay ahead of the pain. A common mistake we make,  is waiting too long to take pain medication. By the time you’re in pain, you’re starting from behind the eight ball. It takes a lot more medicine to control pain after it’s started as opposed to starting it ahead of time -.

Stick to the medication schedule set by the doctor. That will keep medication flowing through your system and your level of pain at a more even and manageable level.

you are still early in recovering from a major invasive surgery and a lot of healing is taking place while you also are more mobile, do exercises and take walks ..

your body is telling you that it might be a bit too much right now

how are you doing otherwise ?

Well, I took all the pain medication given me in the hospital, so I was completely out and didn't think I needed to ask for a refill. I had a couple of the more potent ones left over from before the surgery and that's what I took when this started. I thought it had subsided but it was probably the effects of the pill, however the doctor has instructed me to visit ER so I'm headed there today.

Dear Paula,

I hope everything goes well at the ER.

I'm having similiar pain in my groin, not too much but it hurts when I walk. I'm 19 days post op.

My doctor said maybe I foced myself too much while doing the exercises but I'm

afraid.

Hoping to hear your good news.

Take care

Desire

.

Onlly 19 days, yeah be careful, don't over do it, or do too much. I know we want to resume normalcy asap, but we are still healing from the inside out. I think I was super happy to have it over with and moved around too soon more than I should have. Going on my 5th week post op. This came outta nowhere. Had X-Rays done today, waiting on the results. Take it easy Desire, do your exercises and ice, ice, ice it. That's something I don't think I was doing enough of. I wish you well. Take care.
