hi had hip replacement 5 1/2 weeks ago. Overall doing good but over the past two weeks have been having new pain in the groin. Its when I wake in the morning but still laying in bed and pain with my first 4-5 steps after sitting/laying down. after that just a little tender but no pain?
hi I’m just over 7 weeks post OP and was getting groin pain /spasm on waking. I’ve increased my exercises ie 5x 10 repeats for both legs and added in some extended exercises - leg slides in bed with a bag under my foot and leg raises. found a link on google u tube for help and since then my groin pain has gone. when I went to hospital last monday for my out pt appt they sd if still a problem in 6 months or so to get in touch with them.
good luck. think as our muscles start to wake up / work again after a while of not doing do we get extra aches
Just had my five week outpatient appointment with surgeon and he did say that after not using these muscles for a long time, we will be feeling some new things when we use those muscles. He says it is perfectly normal so I am just going to take his word for it. I am having pain in my rear since I had posterior hip revision. Was told he had to move a lot of things around to make repairs. Hope you will be feeling better soon.

I had pain on standing around then but persevere with the exercises etc. Don’t give up on the crutch(es) until you don’t limp. I returned to a walking stick after the crutches, a folding one so I could just use it if I felt any discomfort. I also got knee ache with a pain down the front of my leg to the ankle. Op was mid March with further surgery due to wound infection five weeks later. Now only pain/discomfort is when I overdo it. Am now doing more exercise (Low impact) and Pilates. Checked with my consultant first though. Good Luck, hopefully it will ease as you get stronger.
