Groin pain and weakness in non-operated leg/hip

Hello ... I am coming back to this topic - it has been 6 weeks since my R THR surgery - Prior surgery I had this horrible pain in my "good" leg - it started when I had Physical Therapy because I wanted to be more fit post-op - I had an over -eager therapist who put me on leg extension machine and other leg muscle strengthening machines (Rowing !!!!) - the pain after these session were really bad but he told me that it will get worse before it gets better .... yeah , right - It didn't, so I stopped seeing him -   i saw my GP numerous times - got different pain meds ... nothing helped -just had to wait for the surgery as it seemed that I had over burdened my supporting leg ....

I read the thread about this and psoas muscle damage - thank you for that - however, I don;t know what to do - Non-operated legfeels weak and feels painful when I put weight on it while the operated leg is fine - do I do the excercises my Physical Therapist told me to ?   for some reason I feel that she is not listening to me .... now I am worried that I am over burdening my new hip ....

so sorry for the lengthy story -

Sounds like me.  I am from USA  My Surgery on my right THR was 11/2 years ago and have problem with groin pain in my left.  After exploring all options inluding Dr (saying hip was OK) I thought of a chiropractor but I didn't want someone to twist me.  I found out about one that uses an activator tool instead.  He examined me and told me what was out of alignment in my lower back.  After a few sessions I was able to walk on my good and bad leg.  No cane.  I still have some groin pain but he said that would take awhile.  All the time I thought it was my hip it was my back. I think that any of these surgeries and walking funny must mess with your back.  Just an idea.  YOU need to pray about it and do what your heart tells you to do.

thanks Elaine ... how did you manage after the surgery though ... did you have groin pain then too or did it come later ?   so discouraging ....

Renee it's ok to share what you are going through.

I didnt see if you have had your non operated leg diagnosed? Have you had the proper tests on that leg to see what is causing the pain.

You may need that one replaced.Hugs up you.

Sorry for your suffering.

Hope you are not still doing the rowing machine as I have been told this is one thing I can never do after thr. Do you do the bridging exercise? My physio told me this is the best one to strengthen all the muscles post op.

Hello lovely people - x-ray of let hip shows no osteo-artheritis ,,,, i wasn;t told to do the bridge excercise but will ask - I am familiar with it though -

wishing you all a good sleep

Thanks ball for mentioning bridge exercises.I forgot about them.lol

I had a RHR and had the groin pain there after surgery.  Then when I was at Physical Therapy we pushed the left leg to get stronger and that is when the groin pain went there.  I waited 3 weeks and no relief.  Went to Dr. and he said hip was OK.  After crying one night I came up with the Chiropractor thought.   Hope you find help.  Just don't give up.
