Groin pain

Good morning everyone

Was wondering if anyone has groin pain? I'm 4 weeks post op and over the past few days I've had a pain in my groin. On Monday I did 15minutes of very gentle exercise on my static bike, it felt fine after so I'm not sure if I've just overdone it or if it's something totally unrelated to exercise.

I haven't taken any pain meds since last week and I don't want to go back on them unless I really have to!!

Any advice would be very welcome.

Thanks

hi karen, from time to time i have had a pain from my groin and i think it's from over doing it just a little bit. That said i have had a couple of pills and then its settled down.i know everyones different but my surgeon said wait until after 6 weeks before anything other than walking and the exercises  they gave to do, regularly

It does sound as if you may have done too much. I don't think there is any benefit from suffering, so a couple of painkillers and plenty of rest.I was told to take it easy for the first 6 weeks.

It is very frustrating, but we really must listen to our bodies. We really do establish the foundations of the new hips in the first few weeks.

hi karen,

It could very well be -

My groins are still so tight at times, and I am almost 12 months post-op from THR #1 and almost 6 months from THR # 2 ....

Having been on this forum for a long time , I think I have been put on physical therapy exercises too early - always made me feel worse afterwards - such a turn-off -

Anyway, I rented a stationary bike and started out with 5 minutes at a time, 3 times a day and then build up from there - and while the cycling felt good, afterwards definitely stiff groin - ... weather here in Holland has been not that great for taking walks so I use the bike instead - I added a 2nd month and am up to 15 minutes , 3 times a day ... and  still, groin hurts afterwards ...

don't know what to tell you - just take it easy and slowly - you are vey earlly in recovery though - maybe just do 5 minutes ...

but, as said here, if it hurts stop doing it -

big warm hug

you are doing great

So pleased you have said that Karen, I too at 4 weeks have groin pain.  I went for a walk yesterday but nothing strenuous so was a little worried until I saw your note.  Let me know how you get on Sue xx

Karen: I also had groin pain. My doctor is know for theropy a few days at home and 2 weeks after surgury in town. I was under the impression to push it a little. Wrong! If it hurts back off. My new P.T. says if it hurts beyong a little bit you may be doing damage in place of healing.

I have been doing a little bit of walking outside I had my op 3 weeks ago and keep getting pain in my ankles not sure if it's how I am walking or arthritus as I have not been taking my regular medication. X
