Groin rash >2 weeks, help!

Hi guys. I’m an 18 year old female student. I currently have this itch and rash that won’t go away. I didn’t take note when it started but it was around December.

It started off being a normal itch. It looks like this circular thing with white border one both side groin.

The itch got worse and I scratched to relieve it. Week after week the skin seemed to thicken and turn brown with red edge. the area affected also spread and  now the whole crease is this colour with itch.

It became dry with white/grey scales and when i scratched it would flake off, together with idk what its called but you know when wet skin and dirt gives that dark clump? so i guess the skin is dry but theres some kind of moisture?

I started to use a moisturizing spray with no odor and the scaling got less bad. but itching still remain. I tried putting on cooling itch powder but that seems to dry it up making it crusty and painful to close my legs (due to the folds).

When I scratch, the skin will easily break, giving me a raw spot which shows bleeding when i pat with a tissue.

(TMI) Now the rash has spread a bit to my labia majora, and the fold under my buttcheek. i noticed 2-3 small bumps/ pimples around my pubic hair but i think that’s just ingrown hair irritated fron scratching. I also notice when I go to pee, the edges of my undies would be wet, I assume from sweat or ooze from the wound. Don’t judge me for this but It smells just like sweat (or wet socks). I am a clean person, and I clean myself after my business, and when i notice these wet edges I’ll change into a pair of clean dry undies.

I’m going crazy from this itch, rash and discomfort. It’s an embarrasing issue

1. What could this be? I thought it was psoriasis but idk. Fungal? Bacterial? Viral? suggestions?

2. If I use antifungal cream and it isnt a fungal infection, what’s the effects/consequence of it? would I be better off staying away from this?

3. Also if i were to go get a skin culture to find out, what would the est. cost be?

Could possibly be impetigo if it’s spreading? If so then it’s easily treated. I think you definitely need to see your doctor and I’m sure they will be able to give you something for it. Best to get it sorted before it continues getting worse. Best of luck.

As you said "circular" I immediately thought "ringworm"...a fungal infection and nothing to do with worms. You can try an OTC ointment with Clotrimazole in it,but if that doesnt help after 2 weeks use you need a doctors opinion.
