Grover disease

Hi.

I have just been told that I have grover disease, located mainly on my upper back with some on sides and chest.

(transient acantholytic dermatosis)

I am a grey haired 70+ guy

What treatment to reduce/deal with itching can any one advise me on.

N.B. any treatment that has an adverse effect on occasional glass of red wine or brandy will not be welcomed.

Have you tried topical steroids? What did your doctor suggest? I believe not washing so much helps!!

Have you read the info on DermnetNZ?

Has your Dermatologist given you anything?  Steroid creams appear to be the first thing to try.

I was prescribed Hydroxyzine - a sedating anti histamine - for when I was itcjng unbearably and that would just make your alcohol more potent.  I actually went off alcohol amongst other things.  It was only when I was put on systemic steroids, that the itching stopped but I have a different disease.
