After a period of 17 years I've started having intense panic attacks for no apparent reason. I am in my late 50s. This has led me to being virtually parked in the GP surgery and on the GP out of hours helpline, as these are very distressing! I'm just waiting for the sertraline to kick in, but would be grateful if anyone could suggest any guided meditations on the web as I did have a tape years ago that I found helpful. I think it was called "inner conscious relaxation". There is stuff on youtube but it's sorting the good from the bad.
I am following up the NHS's Mindfulness. Someone on this website kindly sent me the link and I am sending for it. I know it works. Your GP should have helped you to find this. Just keep on with the medication but ask your doctor for guidance about this Mindfulness. Good luck.
Mindful breathing. Literally force and allow your mind to go blank then belly breathe.
Thanks ann85529 I'l be seeing someone from my Trusts mental health team next week. If they don't mention it I will.
Martin: I'll be interested in their response. I am buying a Kindle and will download the Mindfulness recordings - the author is Mark Williams. I know his name from my time working for the British Psychological Society, and know he is the top man in this.
How would I find this link please? I have been trying various mindfulness bits and pieces but a lot on YouTube not very good
I just looked into buying the enhanced kindle edition, but audio only works on kindle fire or iPad. So I'm getting the paperback and CD. The reviews looked very promising.
