Stitches still there. Dr tried to remove but was too painful. She said eventually they will dissolve but could take months. Slightly worried about them becoming embedded??? Matron, any advice? I know we discussed this before briefly

They are unlikely to become embedded steph and the sutures you obviously have are the type that disintegrate into the tissues otherwise your consent would have given you an injection of local anaesthetic to remove them. Trust her she wouldn't leave them if she thought they would do you any harm. Think of sutures that are used internally for any operation, that will be the type used. The ones that must dissolve are the sutures that are very thick.

Hi Steph, had my post op at 3 months and said I could feel something deep inside. It was confirmed that there was a long stitch. I was told it would dissolve. Nonetheless I phoned my surgeon who confirmed that she never uses permanent stitches and the long one (or more than one?) left inside she uses 'for the scarring' .....I assumed to prevent scarring. She told me it would not become embedded at all and I had no cause for any concern but it would dissolve in the next few weeks. I feel better knowing this. I hope this helps 😊

Hi Steph! I have a great experience with stitches. I had my ant repair one year ago and still had stitches inside. My dr take them out in my rectocele surgery last week. Now I don't have those stitches any more. For the rectocele op he has used another kind of sutures more adequate for my tissues and I hope they will come out for themselves!!!

I would recommend you to be insistent with your doc in the next checks and if the time goes by and you still have inside the stitches insist her to take them out with local anesthesia. As I say they could be there for a year as in my case!

I was thinking the same my husband didn't very much like it lol and they randomly poke me too
