Had enough now

Hi everyone

Sorry not been about much the last couple of days I have been very upset by one of the GP's at my surgery who I have never seen before and had to report her to the practice manager.

I asked for a home visit on Tuesday. First of all she was very late. Second of all I do not think she was very happy about coming to the house. She was very arogent and even said all this could have been done over the phone. Her bedside manner and ignorance and talking over me while I was trying to explain why I asked for a house call made me angry. Makes me wonder why some of these people end up getting thumped some times. I usually get on quite well with any medicle staff.

. I tried to explain that the new meds were causing me some pretty bad side effects. I tried to show her the photo I took of my x ray that I have on my phone to prove the problem. I couldn't get a word in edge ways and she said she didn;t have time to disgus it. She then told me she would be giving me even stronger  meds that I am on and I had to phone the surgery today to stop the new ones being prescribed. I am not going to take stronger meds when I am already getting problems with a milder strength of the same meds which would only make matters worse. This GP also gave me water tablets and didn't explain why or what they were for. I am not taking meds that I have not been told why. I am so glad I see my surgeon tomorrow ( Thursday ) I am going to ask his advice. The GP's can't even look at my x rays or scan results for some reson so I have to ask about this too. She just don't seem to understand the seriousness of my collapsed hip.and the pain I have been sufgfering This GP thinks I am joking and only seeking attention. She said she wasn't interested and then left. Today I got a phone call from anouther GP at my practice. She was very nice and seemed really concerned that I had been treated the way I had by this other GP and has sorted everything out and has even asked me to phone back on Friday to talk to her once I have seen my surgeon. I have promised I will do that but only if it is her I deal with. Not happy.

Sorry to hear that H. I thought in this day that GPS had learned that they are not mini gods. I have found tho since my surgery that they know very little about this surgery.

You were right to complain. I hope you get answers from your consultant on Thursday. Xxx

That's awful and not what you need when you are in such a lot of pain. I do hope that you have a good meeting with your surgeon and a helpful chat with the new gp.

I am sorry for what has happened to you...I had similar problems with some GP  in the past. You have done well in reporting her to the practice manager.

Hi Hailea sorry you had to deal with someone in the medical profession that clearly has no understanding of your problem let alone any empathy. Make sure you get a response from the practice about how they are dealing with your complaint and that at the very least you get an apology preferably written to acknowledge that your complaint has been taken seriously. The GP may have had a bad day but that is absolutely no excuse.

Poor Hailea, it's difficult enough being in pain without going up against someone who won't or can't help and understand you, when that's their job!  Good luck with your surgeon x

I had a phone call about 1/2 hour ago from the co partner of the practice. She could not be more sorry for my treatment and will be having words with the GP concerned. I complained because I may not be the only one having problems with this person. But I won't sit in silence and put up with it like some folk do. This has nothing to do with my sugery. That is what my surgeon is for and he is more than happy to answer any questions I may have. This is to do with pain releaf of the un operated side. Can't wait to see my consultant tomorrow. he is not going to be pleased abut how I have been treated when I tell him.

I have had enough as a child being bullied by health pros. I won't put up with it as an adult. This is what makes me hate doctors , dentists and hospitals so much. They think they can treat you like this and I am just going to take it. Well I won't and I always check everything prescribed to me before I take it. Just to make sure and incase of any side effects.

I can at least walk a little now with out too much pain so that is a bonus. I am going to try and walk up the hall way in the hospital to the clinic tomorrow. If I can do it my surgeon will be shocked.

Sorry thought it was op leg, nightmare situation though, don't think they always consider what happens to a patient from diagnosis to op to recovery,our great wish to be free of pain by having the op then our fears for our recovery, the tears and tantrums when things go wrong happen to the best of us, I never saw surgeon again and When I went for my 1st appointment post op the female I saw was curt & short, she nearly passed out when she saw I had a list of things I wanted to ask about, I could have cried my eyes out when she rushed me out the door after what seemed minutes and said I should be grateful I did not have the horrible pain before op

Can I suggest that you phone your surgeons secretary and demand to see him. If not write a letter to him and tell him of your experience. Also write to the health board and let them know about the care you have had. They need to know. I really can not fault my surgeon or his team. They have been absolutly fantastic and have listened and taken the time to listen to everything I have gone through or been through.

I am sorry you have had this happen to you. But please put in a complaint. It is the only way thinghs will be put right. you are supposed to be under your surgeon for the rest of your life now you have had the op done.

Exactly patricia. I won't put up with people who have no bed side manner or the time to listen to what you have to say.

Well I have been to 2 appointments since then so it's a while ago, got the same female on 3rd visit and was ready for her that time, dug my heals in and reminded her I am was nott a doctor or mystic meg and naturally I had questions so could she please let me see my x ray in detail and explain things better, took a friend for support , anyway good luck Hailea hope things go better for you from now on

Ok when you next go ask to see your surgeon. I am sure that can be arranged. I did that one time because I was going to see someone I didn;'t know so asked to see him. I had to wait a little longer because he was running late but I didn;t mind that. I would sooner see the person that knows me than a stranger.
