Please help! My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years, and I have HSV-2 (genital herpes) and he doesn’t. We have managed to keep him from getting it because we are very careful. Well I hadn’t had an outbreak in a while so I forgot what they feel like at first. The past couple days I’ve had slight itching and tingling, and today my and my boyfriend had unprotected sex (which is common for us) and an hour later I realized I was having an outbreak! I am feeling so guilty and terrified that I have now passed it on to him. What’s even worse is he didn’t wash his hands after we had sex and he’s been rubbing his eyes and stuff. I told him but he isn’t taking me seriously at all. Do you think he will for sure have it passed on to him because of this?? I’m more worried about it getting in his eyes since he didn’t wash his hands! Help!
Anyone have any input at all?

Sweetie, I don’t think there is anything you can do besides literally waiting to see what happens. Worrying about it isn’t going to change the outcome and you’ll just worry yourself sick, which isn’t good when you have an outbreak. For now, I would TRY to let go of the worry about his eyes. Yes, there is always that possibility but try to breathe and just be patient. He knew the risks having intercourse with you so that is just part of the deal. I hope everything turns out ok!! deep breaths.
