Can anyone advise me if this is something I should worry about?
Most likely an allergic reaction to surgical drapes which are stuck to skin round incision site. I got some small blisters around mine. Suggest using a good cream moisturiser eg shea butter or vaseline if you can't use that type of product. Should settle down soon.

Thank you, i will try doing that, because my wound itself has been fine and an allergy sounds feasible. X
Hi I was always told by my surgeon if I got any rash sores or problem with my wounds to go back and see him
Have got appt.in a week, but may go back to gp before then.
Ok hope you get sorted ok however please don't take this the wrong way if your a woman and use a lot of body sprays or creams these may be affecting some sprays and creams has harmful ingredients to wounds all the best
Thanks, I know what you mean about the reactions to creams etc, but have been especially careful not to put anything on it which is why it's worrying me a bit.
Bi-lateral THR in December 2011.
My wounds became itchy after a week or so which was due to a very common reaction to the dressings. The dressings themselves were weapons-grade in construction with extremely strong adhesive. I was advised by the hospital to take Piriton to inhibit the adverse reaction. It worked superbly well. I imagine that if I'd not done so, a rash would have ensued.
Surface rashes, according to those who know way more than me, are very common after THR. If they become hugely inflamed or painful, or an odour develops, then there could be a surface infection present and antibiotic medication may be required to eliminate it. A chat with your GP or surgeon should put your mind at risk.
Hope your recovery is swift.

Have been intensely mosturising the area around my wound, and although there is still a bit of discomfort it has made a huge difference, skin is less rough and inflamed. Thank you to everyone for help and advice.
