I had unprotected sex about a month ago. I went to the gynecologist for a stubborn bump on my labia and I wanted to know what it was. It’s red and it looked like a pimple but I was unsure. She looked at it and said it looks like a pimple and pimples on the vulva are common. I said ok but I wanted to do an STI check with blood work just to make sure. (i should have asked for a culture test but didn’t think to). I got my lab results today and I was very upset! The IGg result for the herpes 2 virus was positive at a 1.18 (very low positive but still there) and then the supplemental IGg test was negative (they do a second one) so the results are inconclusive. I am confused and unsure of what to think. Was I recently infected with the virus (since the last time I had sex was a month ago) and the antibodies are still low because not enough time has passed or is this just a false positive? I’m getting another test done in 4 weeks but I am very scared and worried and I’m wondering if I should go back to the gyno to get this bump looked at again. She says not to worry but I’m unsure if I should go to someone else for a second opinion. I need help ASAP because I’m up at night worrying all night. I have attached an image of the red like cyst/pimple on my labia. It has been there for a week.

Anything under a 3.5 has a 50/50 chance of being a false positive which confirmatory testing is highly recommended which you’ve done and it was negative. If you tested before 3 months of possible exposure you should retest at a later date.
