Haematoma after surgery

Would love to know if anyone else has had a haematoma/blood clot form where the gallbladder once was? My liver function tests were sky high after surgery (which was open not keyhole) and an ultrasound showed a haematoma about 4cm across a couple of days after surgery. Two weeks later it was twice as big. Now, seven weeks after surgery it's still 4cm across. Liver function tests are improving but still way too high.

Will hopefully see consultant again soon to discuss but yesterday the sonographer said it was very a very unusual case. My GP is concerned about infection taking hold or an abscess forming.

I'm worried if it doesn't dissolve by itself I'll need further surgery and really can't go through that again!

Anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Haematoma is usually in the head (between skill and dura mater, a lining of the skull).

You did not say what organ or kind of surgery you had ?

I posted in 'Gallbladder Problems' so that should indicate what surgery I had! Not all haematomas are subdural.
