Hi congratulations on your new baby LOL im sure it is probably the best thing to help you have a good quality of life.
As for the bruising i suggest that if you are really worried you should make an appointment to see your GP and ask the question, simply because as we can’t see the swelling its not possible for someone to say how bad it is.
have you tried icing it regularly this helps with swelling/bruising i was black and blue after falling off my horse LOL i was told it would go eventually, about 6 weeks but that was not through incisions

Hi yes icing it but this is the 2nd hip I’ve had done with never any problems. I can feel and see the haemotoma which is about the size of my palm. I have a call in to the hospital and just waiting for a call back. . Thank you for replying so promptly Eileen

Good morning Eileen,

The bruising can seem quite severe - like you have been dragged down a gravel road. Yes, it is very common. Treatment = ice, elevation, pressure socks and TIME TIME TIME. I’m six weeks post op and my bruises have been gone for a couple weeks now. This time (2nd hip) the bruising was worse all around my knee where last time it was the back of my leg.

Wishing you a good recovery

Thanks im going to the hospital tomorrow morning to get them checked over by the consultant. This didn’t happen with my other hip so I think I’ve just been unlucky this time.

Thank you. The haemotoma are the size of my hand. But I am going to see the consultant at the hospital tomorrow. Thanks for the information
