Haemorrhoids or not?

Hello, I am a 49 year old female.   For quite a few years I have had quite bad anal itching but haven't done anything about it as I thought it was one of those things.   About 6 weeks ago, I noticed that after bowel movements, I could feel something - it felt as if something was sticking out of my bottom but it would disappear after cleaning myself.   I haven't noticed any blood or had any pain and nothing has changed in my bowel habits, everything is quite normal.    I did buy some germoloids cream in case it was a haemorrhoid - I've been using it for a week but nothing's changed (except the itching has completely stopped).   Whilst applying the cream internally today, I have felt a small lump about an inch inside my rectum - it seems to be suspended if that makes sense:  it doesn't feel attached to anything.  Could this be a haemorrhoid?  I keep telling myself it is but I'm very worried about it.   Any advice gratefully received, thank you.

If you can feel something then does sound like an internal haemorrhoid. Best thing to do is see your GP / DR to get it examined properly. Haemorrhoids to pop in and out so it does sound like it but let the experts take a look

Hi, nicola. It is best advised to seek medical attention no matter how embarrassing a problem is. It may serious or minor but it’s best getting checked out as you have had the itching for a long time. infection, skin issues, haemorrhoids etc may cause of itching. If it is haemorrhoids then a change of diet, exercise, applying apple cider vinegar/ drinking with water, sitting in water with Epsom salts. Daft as it sounds if anybody has haemorrhoids chop half a garlic put this into a bucket, add boiling water so it just covers the garlic and sit on the bucket. The steam will help heal the issue but not in all cases. Always consult doctor first regarding diagnosis then try different things.
