Hair

Morning hippies/ hippies to be!

Hope everyone is doing fine!

Just been reading on a Facebook hip page/group, and they been saying on there, that people's hair have changed since their op!

How's everyone's else found this? Folks have been saying theirs have gone curly, dry, brittle, falling out etc!

Just wondering if I need to purchase hair products in preparation?

Thank you all

Linzi xx

good morning Linzi ... it wouldn't surprise me - I am not sure what is going on with my hair though ... moved from Los Angeles to Holland and hair has not been the same since - not really all that different after post-op ... curious to find out about othere comments and tips on good hair products --- Looking good = feeling good, I say ..... big hug

Hi Linzh,

My hairdresser tells me that my hair is getting coarser. So nothing to do with my op.

I have multi-joint arthritis and I've been taking ibuprofen for ages. So I'm wondering whether to blame the drugs - but its probably just my age!!

Anyone else have this problem?

Have a nice Sunday, everyone. It's not the best weather for walkies here in the Fens.

Xx

Good morning Linzi,

drugs can definitely change your hair. When having my chemo in 2011, I went full on bald. Not a hair to be found on my entire body. When all was done, I regained maybe 70% of it. And it is lot thinner and softer than before.

With this operation however, I haven't noticed a change yet, but I do keep my hair trimmed very short. If anything, it seems to be growing slightly quicker because it feels like I'm shaving more often.

As for hair products... Not much help there being a man I'm afraid 😉

My hair changed after menopause (sorry guys) - from straight to sort of curlyand definitly coarser - apparently due to hormonal changes ---  I am teling you: My body is a wonderland ......

Hi

I did find my hair changed but put down to medication and basic reaction to surgery. 3 months on and hair as been as it was pre op since stopped all strong painkillers.

Not been a problem, more just one of the side effects

Hope that helps

Best wishes

Barbara

Hi yes my hair has not been great.I had to use dry shampoo while I was unable to shower! But then yippee the best day arrived when dressings came off and the biggest shower and hair wash! I think it's got a lot to do with the drugs we take! Regards Amanda

Sorry to be boring, no change in my hair. It is just as troublesome and unruly!

Hello I had these hair changes before hip issues and also developed other symptoms eventually was diagnosed with under active thyroid. Since treatment hair back to normal- just a thought

hi linzi

my hair hasnt changed structure but smells funny and cant get rid of the smell. I have a very good nose like a bloodhound and think its from the drugs from the operation. i am just 3 weeks post op now but hoping the smell goes. the texture is slightly rougher but not too bad. keep using good conditioners etc to help.

That makes sense, after all drugs can be detected in hair samples. Cannabis can be detected for up to 6 weeks, a reason I understand for some shaved heads

Hi Linzh

I take vitamin E it helps with any hair problems. It takes about 3 weeks from the first day to really get into your system just like any other vitamins. I have been loosing some hair. But my hair is thick so it doesn't really bother me.

Only problem with my hair after the operation is getting to the hairdresser while I am still not fully mobile and have to rely on getting a lift. I had it cut a week  before going into hospital but now nearly 8 weeks post op it is getting a mess and longer than I like. I haven't noticed any changes in texture and have been able to wash it from week 2 after my stitches were removed.

Hi can you try and get a mobile hairdresser to come to your house? This way you won't have the worry.good luck regards Amanda
