Post Scarf/Akin left foot, 15 October. Appointment yesterday. The good news is they asked if I wanted the right foot done so I said yes, that's happening July time. The bad news is my left foot hasn't worked, not sure if that's anything to do with my Psoriatic Arthritis (surgeon said I have soft bones). So the upshot is that a bunion has started to form again plus other bone damage. I was told they need to operate again and will go in via the ankle part of my foot (where foot joins ankle), and it will be a big operation, to say I'm nervous is an understatement!!
So sorry to hear that it hasn't worked I guess it's probably your poor bones don't heal so well with that type of arthritis I've a friend with that type and it's pretty horrible form of it, good for you for not being put off though and really hope this time it works for you x
Thank you, yes , not nice as I've got problems with my hand too plus Osteoarthritis of the hip, which will probably need replacing at some point, oh joy lol
Well you look after yourself and your obviously doing well, my friend had finger joint replacement it's a horrible disease I hope yr nxt op goes well for you, you'll be like a new person if you get a new hip too
I'm sorry that you are nervous. There will come a time when this is all behind you and your feet will be beautiful and do what they are suppose to without pain. Best of luck to you and we'll be here!

I think that's called the lapitus procedure. I think. That is what I had done to prevent the bunion from coming back. Joint on top of foot. I have 2screws there now. I would be nervous too. I'm so sorry. I'm sure everything will turn out fine. I'll be praying for your quick healing
Sorry to say this, but it could be a case of poor surgical technique. I wonder what the x-rays reveal.

I'm really nervous now after reading your message!
I am seven weeks and two days post op for both bunions - right foot seems ok and have managed to drive with a soft canvas shoe on but the left foot is still in a boot for another two weeks as the surgeon said I have osteoporosis (soft bones) and he struggled to get two screws in, he stapled the screw in instead. My toe is still off at an angle and the bunion is still prominent. I go back to him in two weeks for xrays etc. When did you get told it hadn't worked - could you walk and put a shoe on, did it hurt? Any advice please to calm me down!
Hi Jackie, don't be nervous!! I found the whole thing from beginning to end relatively easy going, never had any problems with healing and did everything I was meant to do, resting, elevating etc but it just didn't work for me. At the time of my surgery whilst on the operating table the surgeon mentioned that my first metatarsal was broken (I'd had no accident and no pain), so I'm just guessing that the Arthritis has a lot to do with it. Oh my appointment was Friday by the way.
And yes I was walking quite well, couldn't really get a shoe on as it was swollen for a long time, I'd just wear my ugg boots.
Thanks, I guess I will just have to wait and see with mine then. Fingers crossed as I don't fancy going through that again!
