Happy Easter to all those who celebrate this time of year .
Today the sun did shine.
I drove my car to The Runnymede Hotel (where the Magna Carta was signed ) and , along with my best friend, had a glorious lunch in the hotel alongside the River Thames.
After lunch we took a stroll along the tow path . Just ten weeks ago today I had my left hip replaced and if someone had told me then that this could be achieved so quickly , I would have found it hard to believe.
For all of you in the early stages and those awaiting surgery; there is a new life ahead ; just hang in there🌝🌺👞👠
Happy easter, what joy we find in doing the things that had become such a struggle x 10 weeks also and enjoyed a woodland walk with the hubby and dogs on this lovely spring day
Our day was not nearly as exciting (a thick coating of ice covers everything in sight).
But, so much for which to be grateful: my new hip, my daughter is slowly recovering from a concussion and my husband is managing both of us without going bonkers (at least yet). Tomorrow the temperature is meant to rise to +9 C and the crocuses below the ice should blaze into glory.

I am nearly 10 weeks and I would love to do what you have achieved. I am getting there gradually, I have attempted driving my car round the small estate where I live but not ventured far. My husband and sister keep taking me out so I just let them. As I keep saying I have a problem with my foot, plantar fasciitis, and this has been since the op. Keep up the good work and I'll get there soon.
Just past the hotel at Runnymede, there is a park from which, during summer months, you can take a boat trip along the river . A few years ago I took this trip when we received a history lesson. There is a site at Runnymede that signifies the place where King John signed the Magna Carta. However during this boat trip we were advised that over the years Historians , have studied numerous documents from that time and concluded that the Magna Carter was signed in a now secluded spot on the other side of the river; the boat stopped at this site .
Yes Morrie, it's somewhere I'd like to visit one day. My favourite historical figure, William Marshal was one of the Barons that 'forced' John to sign. I am reading a book about him at the moment.
I've visited his effigy in the Temple Church in London and laid a little posy of flowers on it.
I too love history and am fortunate enough to live just six miles from Runnymede and Windsor; approx Six miles from Hampton Court (my favourite period). And just ten miles from inner London.

What a beautiful part of the country to live in. We had a famous castle here in Northamptonshire, apparently King John's favourite castle, but there is nothing left of it now. The Gunpowder plot was allegedly planned here in Northamptonshire too. Nowhere near as rich in history as your area though.
