Great start to the week. Day 13. Clips out, wound clean and dry. Check X-ray all good. Cleared to drive. Left stick at home.
Now.....to get this walking thing looking more 'normal'. Tired by the end of the morning and had to think about lifting my foot up properly. I wasn't really prepared for having to think so much about walking. However I was using crutches and a walker for 3 months preoperatvely so figure I must have some muscle wastage.
Hope all hippies round the world are doing OK

13 days no sticks and cleared to drive is amazing - I thought it was at least 6 weeks for driving. Did you have one of these less invasive ops?
Good Morning Georgie,
sounds excellent! If clips are out can you have your first shower -I still remember mine clearly cos it was fab!
driving - happy for you but tis strange Exeter, normally gung ho and liberally 'go for it', says no driving for 6 weeks. so i drove at 6 weeks and 1 hour! so guess all i'm saying is that sounds good, but check how you feel, and if you can handle an emergency stop, cos hate to think of you getting hurt.
enjoy today - walk as if your head is gently attached to the sky with a silk thread....

good day georgie ...good job !!!! you have your freedom and independence back - oh yes, the walking ...we have to be so mindful about how we put down our feet, keep our posture righ, not tense but relaxed - shoulders down - and watch where we are going .... I don't remember the fellow hippie here on this wonderful forum who mentioned the Alexander technique - I googled it and there are great tips about balancing the weight of our body - I didn't realize how badly I was walking or even sitting on a chair .. anyway .... job well done girl ...
big hug from the Netherlands
Day 12_or 13 and still on 2 crutches and no driving for 6 weeks.
I got Charnley cemented hip problems because over 60. What
did you have.
Probably not problems!!!!
Hello, it was me! Alexandra Technique is fab, but hey, can't stop, just off to my fortnightly lesson now!

thank you Mic .... enjoy your lesson ....
yes I had anterior approach, the muscles are separated as opposed to cut.
I had anterior approach, no restrictions in terms of sitting, lying etc but had to be cleared to drive by surgeon.
Luckily I don't have to drive until next week as my husband is still on leave.😄
That is amazing Georgie!
Go girl, but just take care - you are doing so well!
Do you have incision at front of thigh then instead of on butt cheek
I had Super path, which involves no muscle cutting, but my incision is on the butt

Yes it's at the front. I'm going out in the mornings and still enjoying a rest in the afternoons. I'm very pleased with where I'm at, being cautious too as I am the type to over do it!!!

I am Exeter, also no driving for six weeks, but i haven't plucked up the courage yet due to very swollen foot and leg, not being able to switch between pedals quickly,
Also when I last parked my car in my garage, in it's usual spot, I now am unable to open the car door wide enough to get in, will get a family menber to move it when I feel ready to drive, It may have to live in the drive for a while
Hi Sheila
Greetings from chilly st Thomas, Exeter. Where has summer gone?
Might be good to meet up at some point too!
Meanwhile, enjoy your day and yes, wise not to drive till u feel ready for it!
