Hey guys.
So while a lot of people have problems with not getting enough time with their psychiatrist.. I can't get rid of mine!
I use to see him once a month for an hour.. Now I have to see him every week for an hour. It's really stressing me out as I'm finding it too intense.
He says I need to go along with it though in order to help me get to where I need to be. But I'm currently finding this counterproductive.. Which I've explained, but I just get the same response back again of going along with it.
I just feel trapped with no hope.. As the help isn't helping at all and I've been working on this with professionals for over a year. I hope things improve.
I'm no expert but I would imagine the increase is because they feel you are drawing close to facing/understanding something. It may be that you are aware of this either consciously or subconsciously and this the reason for your feeling of distress. But if you are feeling uncomfortable you are allowed someone to sit with you which you can request
Either someone you trust or ask your therapist for a colleague to sit in on the session. If the session becomes different than before you may need to speak to someone but most likely it is part of the therapy. Remember you are in charge of the sessions and if you feel uncomfortable you have a right to say so
Hope this helps
David
I agree with David; both possibilities have to be explored.
And if the increase is due to a potential breakthough, you'd probably not want to miss that. So getting a second opinion from an on-site colleague would be advantageous and less open to misinterpretaion.
Good luck!
Thanks for your suggestions. He said as there has been a deterioration then this is why. And it's true, things are at an all time low.. But I'm still finding this counterproductive. Not sure what to do!
