has anyone able to stop ppi medicine

Hi,

   I am suffering from severe acidity since 2yrs now. at the beginning i was getting little bit of acidity due to stress so i went doctor for it. He prescribed me 40mg of pantoprazole & that was the worst decision i made in my life. after taking pantoprazole for 4 weeks it actually made it worse . its like my stomach is full of hydrocloric   acid & its unbearable . its been two years now i am suffering like hell.

I heard about reducing the dose gradually i am doing it too. Now i am on 20mg of pantoprazole . I was wondering if anyone succeeded in stoping ppi altogether . If yes then a little bit help will be useful

I was on Prilosec for 1 year, it didn't make much difference in fact I felt like I was getting worse so I started taking 1 pill a day then 1 pill every other day them 1 pill every 3 days, so after a few weeks I wasn't taking it at all,  I had some symptoms from stopping the medicine but it went away in a matter of about a week.  I still have problems with silent reflux on a daily basis  of course I am not as careful about what I eat and drink as I should be,  My symptoms are mainly breathing problems.
