Hiya I was diagnosed with ceoliac disease x2 years ago now. I manage my diet well and feel loads better for it.
x6 mouths ago I developed a cough a bad cough. After courses of antibiotics and steroids I got referred to the hospital Ent department because I couldn't shake this cough off.
The Ent guys said I have acid reflux due to basically me being ceoliac ( the ceoliac and enzyme problem is connected he said) and my pancreas not producing enough enzymes to digest my foods which is coursing my stomach to produce more acid to try and digest the food instead. That acid reflux courses lots of unpleasant effects.I take enzymes after food and they are helping but not solving the problem completely.
wondering if any other ceoliac has the same problem?

Hi Deb, Pantoprazole SOD 40mg is the medication I take. It took about 6 weeks for my body to allow it to work. YES, many of us suffer from exactly the same situation. The best mediation is tremendously expensive. Pantoprazole is a fine medication. All the very best to YOU!!! Laurie
Hi Laurie Thankyou for your reply.
The consultant has said my pancrease or small intestines isn't producing enough enzymes for digesting my food and it's connected to ceoliac disease. This courses my stomach to produce to much acid which results in the acid reflux and all the unpleasant symptoms that come with it.
Have you got ceoliac disease ?

Hi Deb, I was diagnosed at Stanford with a rather rare form of the disease. My body cannot distinguish between glute, fructose, coffee and other foods. If contaminated by gluten I am sick for 6-weeks. If I accidently eat something from the FODMAP diet I am sick for about one week. A good probiotic will assist your digestion. It is a challenge to be sure. HOWEVER, we enjoy the healthy times far more than those who do not suffer!!!! Hang in there and on here. We really support one another!
Hi again Laurie
i hope you don't mind me asking is your diagnosis called anything different than ceoliac disease, what tests did you have and who where you referred to to get the diagnosis.
ive been so poorly and feel I need referring to a gastroenterologist not the Ent guy.......?
