I am 2 weeks post op RHR (Right hip Replacement) and my leg has not
started to go back to normal. Ever since my Surgery my leg kinda came in. My Doc said just give it time some nerves on one side of your thigh is
damaged. I made it past the excruciating pain, I made it past the sleeping onback. However, this leg thing is freaking me out. My knee pushes over into my other knee. Is this normal. I'm also having lost of leg spasms. More at
night. Is that normal?
Hi, I had double hip replace in December & yes my left leg in particular kept going in & foot was the same.
We have an expression over here ...it looked as though I had "hen toes". My knee did the same, naturally
wanted to go in the way
Anyway I have been vigilant in retraining this leg & when walking I make sure it walks strait, still has a
tendency to point inwards but am persevering & slowly getting better
Geship, What did your Doctor say about that? It's been over 2 months, do you think it's getting better? Does your Doc tell you I should go back to normal?
Hi msmarcie,, the doc says keep going, no major issues ( he's not walking on my legs) anyway I keep going, when walking I concentrate where the leg is pointing & make it go the way it should. Don't know how long this is going to take or if it will ever be back to normal, but it's a minor issue. I think it is better in the past month, it was worse immediately post op for 6 wks but getting there. No pain. I also still sleep with pillow between my
legs while on back & if on side again I use a big long pillow.
Hope your gets better
What I meant to ask" is...Why that happened to you & what your Docs say caused
it. Mine said : Muscle weakness... & that it will go back to normal. That's why I'm wondering what your doc says. M
Hi, same as yours, nerve damage, numbness which is supposed to get better (& it has)muscle weakness &
wastage as pre op hadn't been doing lots of exercise , walking etc & during op these muscles get moved about & bruised etc. I can vouch for that as post op my muscles were
sore & had major bruising down thigh & calf. It's supposed to sort itself out but I think you need to make it
walk in the right way, in naturally wants to go in but I consciously try to keep it strait.
As soon as I get the all clear to go back on exercise bike I will.
Hope this is useful to you
How you doing now? Did you get back to normal? How long has it been?
Hi, op was December last year, had both done.no probs with the right leg but the left leg still keeps wanting to turn inwards, particularly the foot. It has got better, was more pronounced initially but gradually better, still
have to concentrate on the foot when walking to point it forward. It's not a disaster more of an annoyance but I imagine the foot will eventually get the message with persistence / training !
Ps back on excersise bike for past couple weeks, great for building up the muscles in the legs, hard at first
but definitely good for muscle wastage etc
