Dx last October..taking 15 mg mtx but still having problems. Last
feb had xrays right knee due to pain and swelling. Xrays neg except for some osteo. Had pred inj 2xand got better. Too early for more pred. Now for the strange part. I go to bed and both knees and hips hurt to the point I have to take pain meds and sleep aid to get any rest. Hurts all the way down to both ankles. When I get up rt knee is swollen to double size and terribly painful. As day goes on, swelling goes down! I am able to walk without pain. This makes no sense to me...any opinions?
Hi Jayne, it is all part of whatever it is we have. RA. I too use to have this everynight. I take sulfasalazine daily which helps with the inflammation. I use to take Prednisone but prefer Tylenol on a bad day and most nights. You will have to see an orthopedic for the knee and an ankle specialist (podiatrist) for your ankle. I have all of what you mentioned including my wrists and hips. The sulfasalazine does help. I always feel better when I am moving. The ankles can slow the moving down. I am looking forward to some physical therapy to strengthen muscles around all these bones.
Thank u. I am having mri of knee..if there is no orthopedic reason for the pain, then I guess I must believe RA. Its just hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that RA could hurt so bad!
