I'm a 24 m with idfk what I'm dealing with , probably prostatitis . Has anyone in general removed thier prostate because of prostatitis ? Or a different reason . I know you can't ejaculate and can't have kids but is there any other relevant information . And which Doctor removed it due to prostatitis
Honestly, removing the prostate for prostatitis is a permanent solution to what could be a temporary problem. It can cause incontinence, erectile dysfunction, lack of ability to have kids, and you might not even get rid of the pain, if it's not bacterially based.
Absolutely not worth it at 24. Prostatitis is not a life sentence for most people, removing the gland would be overkill, any urologist will tell you this I'd imagine.
If it is prostititis I would think total removal would be a last ditch effort. From what I read it's a treatable problem. Even in worse case they only remove parts. I didn't find any articles suggested total removal. I be wrong but I would talk to a doc about it some more. Maybe someone else on here will come on in the morning can tell you more.
Sunds like your just starting to deal with prostatitis. Have you been to a urologist? At 24 removing the prostate would be absolute last resort. Find a urologist that listens. Don't be afraid to find a seocd or third one if you don't get resukts. Hang in there. Look at some of the home remedies on the internet. They can help ease the pain while you go through treatment. Good luck
I have asked a number of Consultants regarding if removing the Prostate would sort the Prostatitis and the reply from each was yes it would clear the Prostatitis BUT you would probably be left with nerve pain. Each also said they would only remove the Prostate if it had Cancer in it. Currently I am in continual pain with Prostatitis but I do have traces of Cancer as well and a Professor of Urology is considering the options of what to try first, but I am 73.
Think total removal would leave you with incontinence? Not sure
Hi,
You need to consult a urologist as soon as possible, so that they can diagnose and treat your problem accordingly. Having a Prostatectomy is an extreme measure and would only be done as a last resort. .. It carries a high risk of impotency. .. you did mention what problems it is you are experiencing? ? And even tho you are still very young you probably should have a PSA done of you are experiencing problems.. my best advise to you, is get yourself to a specialist asap
I was thinking something like the laser surgeries that being done. Some prostate if left.
Having lived with chronic prostatitis off/on for the past 10+ years I can empathize but like others already posted - prostatectomy is not the solution. Find a urologist that will work with you and don't hesitate to try several (I have seen 5 in the past 6 years).
Finding a doctor that will listen to you, test you properly for bacterial prostatitis and then explain the potential causes and work with you to find solutions can be a challenge, just be persistent. In my case (and it seems most men), the common first action is a course of antibiotics. If that doesn't help, they then prescribe alpha blockers (rapaflo etc). If still no relief, they may recommend finasteride and after that, all of the doctors I have seen had no additional suggestions.
In my case, the antibiotics seemed to provide short term marginal help, but within a few months the symptoms returned. Alpha blockers were no help. Finasteride did provide relieft from the discomfort but not the primary urinary symptoms. However the side effects of Finasteride after 4 months, were worse to me than the symptoms, so I stopped taking it. Fortunately, even after stopping Finasteride, I am still pain free.
The only thing I have found that helps with my urinary symptoms (hesitancy, frequency, slow stream) has been discontinuing diuretics (caffeine and alcohol) and taking beta sisterol and turmeric. I make turmeric paste (recipes/instructions easily found on the web - search for 'turmeric paste' or 'golden milk' its quick, easy and cheap to make. I tried turmeric capsules (with piperine) but saw no improvement until I started using the paste.
Everyone is different, so you will need to be persistent in learning about prostatitis and what works for you. Good luck.
Never heard of this being done. I doubt any surgeon would do it!
When I first started down my BPH path I was convinced I had prostatitis. I'm still not convinced I don't. At 58 the 3 urologists I've seen none have agreed with me. How do they diagnose non bacterial prostatitis?
That would be like removing a tooth because it had a small decay, which could be treated with a small filling. It would be a dumb thing to do, and I doubt that any reputable urologist would do it.
If your local urologist can't successfully treat your prostatitis, go to a center of excellence, like a Mayo Clinic, or a major university. Your GP or urologist should be able to recommend one.

Going on a year. The symptoms are a real killer in itself however this started after a one night stand unprotected sex, and what has been the worst part of this is that Every test I did came back negative . Been to 3 uro 1 was a scam 2 told me he can't help me 3 USB expensive as fuk and last time asked about my mental health indicating it's all in my head
I thank you all for advice however mine is a long story I posted but in a nutshell this all started after unprotected sex and was never positive for any bacteria.... the symptoms Are one thing but the discharge to me shows it's some bacteria that is not being identified . I dont mind the outvome because im suffering as is. i just wsnt to have peace of mind knowing there is no morr bacteria in me
Do not remove your prostate at 24. Assuming you tried the standard antibiotics, look at the studies on Monurol. Find a doc who will massage your prostate while doing the Monurol for 7 weeks. Also, Stanford has developed a protocol involving attacking pressure points in and around the prostate and have concluded many cases of prostatitis are actually trigger points. Have you tried heat? Use a microwaveable moist heat in the appropriate area. Hang in there. I hope you get better.
Thank you, where can I find these doctors or these institutions and how do I get treatments that have unconventional methods.... I will fly literary anywhere in the world , every doctor I have been too does the same standard methods....
Did you find any solution?
My chronic bacterial prostsis symptoms are reccurring aftet 1.5 years of stopping antibiotics...i m also trying turmeric..you have any other remedy for relief??
You dragged this thread up from the past. If you're taking tumeric ( curcumin )you have to take something with it to help your body absorb it. I've forgotten what it. Google it. There are some varieties that are more easily absobed. They'll turn up in a Google search also
