Has anyone tried N-Acetylcysteine for BV?

I've been a sufferer for over 15 years, and no lasting luck. I have been extensively researching and found the problem is the biofilms the bacteria encase themselves in protect them from antibiotics, which is why we look cured only to have a "relapse", but the infection was never really cured. I pretty much have the same story as everyone else, and same disappointment with doctors (I'm a nurse and inside info didn't help either). I've been reading about NAC used because it's a mucolytic (I give it to patients with cystic fibrosis to clear their lungs) and it's shown promise in breaking down the biofilm so the antibiotic can get to all the bacteria. The current study going on in Egypt is giving it vaginal as a douche, but I can find that and am nervous about doing my own concoction (even thought I've tried yogurt, probiotics, h2o2, and others). I started taking it orally 3 days ago, and will start flagyl this am to see how it goes. Just wondering if anyone else tried this, and how they made out. Still looking for a vaginal preparation.

I've had BV for 20 years and I've used the flagyl and for the first several years I only had to take it twice a year but as time went on it stopped working period and the odor was horrible.  My doctor who also believes in naturopathic practices suggested boric acid which you can buy on the internet.  Purchase 00 (zeros) gel capsules and fill one with boric acid, insert it with a vaginal applicator.  I works immediately but not permanently.  I insert one whenever I start to smell and it's gone.  Over time, the last year, I've had to use this method less and less and the smell is very much under control.  I also use organic extra-virgin coconut oil for lubrication during sex.  All this I bought over the internet. I am hoping you will respond, because we have a lot in common. I'm so sorry you are going through this. This disorder has depleted me of almost everything and brought my confidence to almost nothing.... needless to say I'm really at my wits end....how did I progress with this treatment? I also did extensive research and learned some things about biofilm... I ordered something online called biofilm defense and I plan to take it with antibiotics. I pray that this is my answer to getting my life back. Stay blessed... hope to hear from you or anyone else that can shed some light... xo
